Post-Match Parry: "3 - 0 Not a True Reflection"

Following yesterday's dismal 3-0 away defeat by Brighton and Hove Albion at the Withdean Stadium, Les Parry suggested the scoreline was not a true reflection of the game although some fans that went may disagree somewhat with that sentiment....

After Rovers were comfortably beaten 3-0 away at Brighton on Saturday afternoon in Coca-Cola League One, Manager Les Parry was critical of the referee and the way in which he claims Brighton were gifted all three goals in the game......
Parry told Tranmere Player............
"When they scored their goal that was the first time they'd come in our half. We started well, but we gave them all three goals. We dropped off too deep in the first half, let them play in front of us and made them look good."
We addressed that in the second half and then I thought we did ok. The first goal we were attacking, we gave the ball away and hey presto it's a goal. The second one Paul McLaren tried a ball he shouldn't have tried, they get the ball, break down and we get it back with Andy Robinson.
He then gives it away and they put the ball in and score again. For the third one young Ben tried a ball inside and so we've presented them with that as well. Although it's 3-0 I think it wasn't a true reflection of the game.
"I'd like to look at the red card again. I'm going to have to have our lads in tomorrow and have them lying down after tackles because it seems to be the only way you can get referee's decisions nowadays. After every tackle their players lay on the floor."

Ben got booked when their player lay on the floor and as soon as he was booked the player got up. It may end up that it was a sending off, but all in all for an experienced referee he fell for the five card trick on numerous occasions."
"We've got to make sure today doesn't knock our confidence. We'll be able to pick enough positive bits out to show the lads, especially from the second half. Our fans back home will look at a 3-0 scoreline and think we've been taken to the cleaners, but we've had a free kick just before the free kick
that was a great save from their keeper and what we thought was a handball from a strike where their lad was on the line."
All in all I don't think we got the rub of the green today from the referee. He is an experienced ref and that makes it more disappointing. I don't want to criticise him any more because I might be wrong in how I've seen the events."

Gus Poyet v Les Parry....no contest.

Go to the BBC highlights, go to 56 seconds, watch the foul on Savage. Definitely a yellow card at least. In fact it is as bad as Robinsons tackle. Just because Robbo is sprinting to the ball and it makes it look worse, the tackles are both late and from the side.

BUT...look at how many other chances they had. Luke made a couple of good saves and their 'keeper had barely anything to do.
Do you not think the players confidence is going to be at 0 already, and perhaps, god forbid he associate positive things with Tranmere?
It's his job too prepare the players for Friday, coming out in the press and saying they were terrible is not the way to go about it - thats stuff that should be kept to the dressing room!
I realise for many of us it's terrible to actually be positive but c'mon...
Everyone moaned at Barnes for blaming individuals now people are moaning at Les for trying to take the few positives he can.

Fair enough if that's the way he wants to go about it, I'm not going to argue with it and haven't moaned particularly (just said I disagreed with him).
In main, what he said fits in with what you told me.
Poor defending all round, first goal was first time they got out of our half, third goal was due to Gordon etc.
Which part do you majorly disagree with?

If he was consistently bias like that throughout then Les has every reason to be angry.

It's late, nearly coming from behind and he takes Savage out from a distance that is shootable. Thankfully Bas found the pass but it was definitely a free-kick and a booking.
If that wasn't a booking then Robbo's was a yellow not a red.

Hi everyone - Seagull fan here - when I saw the comments from your manager following the 3-0 defeat I couldnt beleive it. I have nothing against Tranmere but if it wasnt for 2 great saves from your keeper late on the score would have been even worse. The red card was a definate red card it was right in front of where I sit and the whole croed stood up in anger at the challenge. Im sure if you have seen it on the TV you will see it was a certain red card. As far as our players rollong around I do not agree with that either I think your number 30 (left back) was lucky to have a red card following another terrible tackle. I can only assume your manager is trying to deflect attention away from the performance onto the referee etc. I think if this is his level of judgement you would be better off without him
A SEagull fan answers my query about should it be more.
He sees Parry as I see him following that pathetic summing up .
