Latest ‘GUAR’ Fanzine Now Available

The latest edition of the Tranmere Rovers Fanzine ‘Give Us An R’ is now available to buy at all Tranmere games as Issue No. 60 (Mar/Apr 2010) went on sale at the Brighton away game last Saturday and will be on sale again on Monday at Swindon and again at Walsall next Saturday.......

Last weeks disappointing result away at Brighton and Hove Albion also saw the launch of the latest edition of the one and only Tranmere Fanzine, ‘Give Us an R' which once again covers the events of the past month or so in a slightly different way to the usual media approaches and once again Total Tranmere brings you a quick preview of what to expect from this month's Issue.

Issue 60 (Mar/Apr 2010), is issue number six of the current season and has a full colour front cover featuring Les Parry and Tranmere and Wirral Football Supporters Trust Chairman Ben Harrison at the Les Aid event, something which is heavily mentioned in the Fanzine this time around.

The usual features are once again prominent in this edition from the Doctor's Editorial column to The Paddock Man and Total Tranmere's very own Deadly Submarine whilst this month's ‘You Don't Have to Be Mad But it Helps' fan interview sees Trevor Jones of Wallasey answering the questions and it certainly makes one of the more informative and interesting interviews there has been since this feature began.

Recent away trips featured in this issue include the visits to MK Dons, Gillingham, Charlton Athletic and Southend United and there are also two one off features, one about the Fan of the Year award which went to John Redgrift and a very interesting piece written by Kit Whitty who attended an ‘Awaydays' event at Birkenhead Library on the same night as the much more publicised Les Aid evening at Tranmere.

The event at the library saw the author of ‘Awaydays' Kevin Sampson talk about the origins of the book and its eventual transfer to the film that came out last year in what was an interesting evening which still allowed those who attended to make the end of the Les Aid event which also has a large feature in this issue of GUAR.

Aside from the usual Anorak Quiz of obscure angled pictures of football grounds which youhave to guess at, the Fanzine finishes off this month with a ‘Then and Now' section which shows fans (including two of Total Tranmere's Admin Staff), celebrating the goal scored by Ian Goodison away at Southend recently. 

This is contrasted by a goal celebration by Rovers fans away at Swansea City's old Vetch Field Ground after Ian Muir had scored and I am reliably informed that a well known referee is prominent in the photo as well!

Finally the ‘Yesterdays Heroes' image on the inside back cover features John McGreal to cap another interesting Fanzine.

At just £2.00, ‘Give Us An R' is a worthwhile purchase for any avid Rovers' Fan so if you have perhaps thought about buying it before but never got round to it, why not make this issue your first one? 

We can highly recommend it as a publication written by fans for fans and with no connection in its content to the Club itself, giving views that you may not otherwise see in a matchday programme.

It can be bought at all Rovers home matches from Dave who positions himself on the left hand side of the road entrance to the Main Car Park at Prenton Park. He is usually positioned on the bit of waste ground on the opposite side of the entrance to the Mersey Clipper Pub (just under the Board which shows the next few matches that are due to be played at Prenton Park).

Dave is also at almost all Rovers away matches during the season, standing somewhere near the away turnstiles selling the Fanzine so there is plenty of chances to pick up your copy at the upcoming Swindon and Walsall away games as well as the upcoming home matches against Wycombe Wanderers and Exeter City so if you've never bought one before, why not give it a try.
