Weather Report

Despite forecasts of rain to start off the Bank Holiday weekend, the weather was hot and sunny before the game but as the events of the afternoon unfolded it did get cooler and more overcast - not that anyone was really bothered about the weather!

Crowd

8,964 fans were at the game consisting of over 2000 South Londoners in the Cowsheds Stand and many more than usual Rovers fans particularly in the Main Stand and Paddock areas.

 Referee Watch

Neil Swarbrick (Lancashire) - The referee that oversaw one of Rovers better away performances earlier in the season in the 3-3 draw at Huddersfield proved to be a lucky omen yet again.  Judgement on the penalty decision may have to be reserved until the TV cameras show it again but overall the man in the middle had a decent game.

Best Moment

The moment we went ahead just before half-time was special indeed but was eclipsed in the second half by the goal of the season from Andy Robinson.  £12,000 worth of Les Aid money very well spent!

Worst Moment

Hard to really pick a worst moment as Millwall failed to score and many of the chances they had, bar Gulacsi's late save, were wayward from distance and not much better from closer in.  Therefore I would say that from a personal point of view, getting cramp of the left leg celebrating Hartlepool's equaliser was a bad moment. 

John Welsh - Broomes and Goodison were excellent at the back, Logan was good going forward and Thomas-Moore worked as hard as ever upfront but John Welsh was a rock in midfield and was always there with a foot in or a tackle just when it was needed.

 Connections

Former Rovers player Jason Price is a member of Millwall's swuad but did not feature in the matchday squad whilst Tranmere's Bas Savage is of course a former Millwall player.

Tranmere Fans

A bigger than normal crowd made or better noise and that includes all three home sides of the ground with even the Main Stand and Paddock getting involved.  The fans were treated by the players today and the fans returned the favour with great support.

Millwall Fans

Brilliant noise as ever and have come to expect nothing else from them.  The Clipper before the game was loud and at the start of the game and through the first half they were making themselves heard!

Summary

On a day when Rovers could have gone down, and at one point were actually relegated as results stood, the players put in a brilliant performance and continued a run of four games in which the players have shown flight and determination.  We may still yet go down but we really are going down fighting!

Entertainment Value

First half was slow going from a Rovers point of view but it was an enjoyable game all round and a pleasure to be part of!
