The Final Rallying Cry
By Matthew Jones
May 7 2010
With now just 24 hours to kick off in Tranmere's massive game at Stockport, Total Tranmere issues our final rallying cry
It's been a terrible eight months. We've lost more games than any other season since 2000/01, we've put in lackluster, often seemingly effortless performances. We've been embarassed, we've been ridiculed. We've been battered, we've been bruised. But tomorrow is our chance to shine. Despite all the misery though, despite all the disappointment and hurt, we go in to tomorrow knowing that a win may well be enough to keep us up. We've languished at the bottom, we've struggled against the tide, we've suffered defeat after defeat and missed chance after chance, but tomorrow is our chance, and a chance we will take. Players, Les, Shaun, Wayne, if you're reading this. We'll be right behind you. We'll be out in force tomorrow, all 3,000 of us. We'll sing our hearts out. We'll spur you one. We'll suck that ball into the net. We will be there for you. We will be your twelfth man. As long as you put in 110% tomorrow, each and every one of you, we will be thankful for your efforts, that's all we can ask for. But we CAN do this lads. We can beat the drop. We believe in you. We will support you. Tranmere fans have seen their fair share of ups and downs over the years, but tomorrow will be an up. Tomorrow will be our day in the sun, and come 5:00pm, we will celebrate with you and give you a reception like you've never been given before. Go out there and be proud of the white shirt. Put in the best performance you've ever put in in your careers, do the running, and we will support you. We will be proud of you. We can do this. We deserve this. You deserve this. Don't be part of a side that is remembered for bringing relegation, disappointment and anger. Be part of a side that doesn't bottle it, doesn't lose their heads and can go out there and put in a brilliant performance when it's needed. We will support you. We will be there for you. We have done it before and we will do it again. Sparkle and Believe. This is Tranmere Rovers Football Club. This is our moment. This is our club.

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
A long time since I felt this excited, anguish and worried!
Couldn't sleep.
Squeaky bum time.
Great poem isn't it
Thanks for reminding me Deadly. (or are you applying for England manager!!!!!)
The fans do.
