Parry Post-Match: "It Was a Great Occasion"

Following the 3-0 win at Stockport which kept Tranmere in League One for another season after a mostly dismal season, Manager Les Parry was delighted and emotional at having suceeded in the seemingly impossible task he was handed back in October......

Les Parry was both proud and emotional after his Tranmere side beat Stockport County 3-0 at Edgeley Park to stay up in League One for another season after all had looked bleak following the poor start under John Barnes prior to his departure in October.

Speaking to Tranmere Player after the game Parry said.....

"I feel so elated, I don't know how I stopped myself from crying. It was a great occasion and it's a dream come true. I said at the beginning that I didn't want to take the Club down as it means that much to me and because of that it makes the elation of staying up even greater."

"The players delivered, the staff delivered, and I'm not just talking coaching staff I'm talking all the staff at the Club and it's a combined effort.  We've not been able to put two wins together all season but we hadn't lost two in a row until a few weeks ago and I started to think then that this might happen."         

"The senior players have been brilliant but I'd also like to mention our loan players.  Our loan players to a man have been tremendous.  They've taken the Club to heart and played as if they're permanent members of staff. 

"The fans never shut up, they were absolutely brilliant.  Throughout the season they've given me great support.  Les said he hoped to continue in management following the end of the season."

"I've got to sit down with the Chairman and see what his thoughts are.  He might have someone lined up to come in on Monday and if he does it isn't a problem.  But hopefully he'll see the way we have gone about things, like the way we have done it and consider us for the job."
