Rovers handed tough home tie in Johnstone's Paints Trophy

Tranmere Rovers have been handed a tough home draw in the first round of this seasons Football League Trophy.
Rovers will play Accrington Stanley in the tournament, with the game taking place at Prenton Park on the week commencing Monday August 30th.
Last season, Tranmere were knocked out in the first round of the tournament by Bury after a 2-1 defeat at Gigg Lane, John Barnes' final game in charge of the club, whilst Accrington, managed by former teacher John Coleman, reached the Northern Section Semi-Final of the trophy before being knocked out Leeds United.

i hope we give Accrington Stanley respect, if we dont then it could be a potential banana skin.
Charlie Barnett has signed for them.

Seems strange that this game is being classed as difficult when the swansea game is classed as winnable

I don't think Swansea is that winnable to be honest but all games should be treated the same.

I actually think both are winnable, but Swansea psychologically moreso, because Swansea were the second worst scoring Chamionship side last season and are still transitioning a new manager.
Good win at Preston, but didn't score against Hull.
Accrington have drawn two games 0-0, but also may play Barnett in the team and Andy Parkinson, who will be up for it too. If they play them both and are up for the game, they could be a bananaskin team.
Swansea have more to lose than gain and whilst I can't see it being a Bristol Rovers, Oxford type scenario, I think Tranmere will be capable of both wins, Accrington moreso physically / skillfully, but logically Swansea being the cup prey not predator, will play more into Tranmere's hands then Tranmere being the cup prey for Accrington.

Someone mentioned that Charlie is playing for Accy!
I would like to add that also on their books is a certain player called Andy Parkinson!
Apparently he has also started coaching at our school of Excellence!
