Accrington Charged Over Tranmere match

We got lucky with an F.A. charge over Hartlepool last season (not that it mattered, as it turned out). Could we get lucky again?!

Would rather we didn't get put through.

I remember LR saying in programme notes almost 3 years back that we only just broke even on the JPT games. Attendances have dwindled since and we can't afford to make a loss on hosting a game.

Added to the fact that you don't make any money from it until the very later stages (regional finals I think) it's not something we need to be in.

Especially when we have a small squad and 13 injuries. The less games the better IMO as our primary objective is survival and if our squad can be as fresh as possible then thats a good thing.

well a true Mersy Derby would be good !

Have we heard anything else on this? I noticed the next round of games were last night and tonight but the northern section only has 7 games, while the southern section has 8.

Did I miss a memo?

The Accrington game was postponed last night due to the investigation. Haven't heard anything else. How does it take so long? I think Stockport will get a bye into next round, but I think the fairest way would be Tranmere to play Stockport. It's not as if the banned player had nothing to do with the result He scored the goal.

Agree it's been too long already. A simple decision either way.Not sure how much notice has to be given to police, I think it's 7 days in which case the game could be played on the 27th Oct. Week after we are playing Carlisle and then next round is the week after that w/c 8th Nov. RIDICULOUS

5 days notice has to be given to a club, not sure if there's a rule about the police etc. but seeing as police aren't actually required at games, and especially Tranmere Vs Stockport (if that's the result of the enquiry) then I can't see them being a problem.

Either way it's dragged on far to long, if this was an FA Cup game involving Liverpool, United, Arsenal or Chelsea it wouldn't have taken this long.

For what it's worth I honestly think there will only be two outcomes they choose from rather than three...

Either Accrington will get away with it or Stockport will get a bye.

I hope I'm wrong and the option of us being reinstated to play Stockport happens but I have a sneaky feeling it won't.

I think we should appeal against being re-instated.There is no money in this trophy and the last thing we need is a pointless game that could lead to injuries or suspensions

Matthew i agree and disagree, no body takes this competition seriously until the regional finals including the teams competing in it by playing a weakened side of reserves and fringe players but i bet everybody who hadn't been to a JPT game all season would be off to wembley if we got to the final

I wouldn't want to be in it.

Lets look at our situation, we've got a ridiculous amount of players injured, chances our we wouldn't get to wembley as we'd have to beat Hudders/Sheff Wed at some point, and we make a loss on games like Stockport at home (Ironically probably the game we're most likely to lose probably..)

I'd probably prefer us not to go back in it, our aims to stay up which is hard enough with 10+ players out for every match, the more matches the more chances of new injuries and the less time for players to recover from knocks.

Who wouldn't want a Wembley final, and who's to say we won't get there just because of the teams left in it? Brentford beat Everton and Northampton beat Liverpool this season, we've beat the likes of Everton, Leeds and Southampton in the past, who's to say we can't beat Huddersfield or Sheffield Wednesday, if we were drawn together?

Winning is a good habit, and if we can get back in this competition, start winning games and go on a bit of a run, it's great for confidence, for the team, for the fans and for the club because we will get some (minimal) money out of it. It may be small, but money is money, and I'm sure we'd all love to go to Wembley...

Yeah I agree Matt, a day out at Wembley would be great for the club and we are capable of beating Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday on our day.

On another note though Mikey, I thought police had to be at games as it's a public event?

Agree with matt the further we could go in any cups the better.

With regards to players being injured during games, quite a number of our players have been injured during training so the fact we have extra games is irrelevant for injuries.

Yes it is releant, just because not all are getting injured in games it gives players who have knocks less chance to be able to recover from injuries and whats to say someone like Goodison won't break a leg or something? Yes it could happen in any game but the chances of us reaching wembley are minimal and with such a small squad and an ever growing injury list I'd rather maintain our L1 Status come May than be relegated but have been to Wembley. JPT Trophy money wouldn't cover the shortfall in revenue from relegation...

If we get put back in then so be it but I'm not exactly hoping and preying we do, it doesn't bother me. It'd be embarrasing if we won it anyway, after being put through by default. I'm sure if Putterill hadn't played another of Accringtons players could of exploited the shoddy defending that had allowed him to score that goal...

And some teams choose to have 'unpoliced' games now I think Matty_1985 - I don't think its compulsary now its just advised, however I can't see it being a problem as Tranmere Vs Stockport would hardly be bringing in thousands of people!

Interesting that this season the League One Play-Off Final isn't even at Wembley so the JPT is the only chance for a lot of teams this time around.

Why would it be embarrassing if we were put through and then won the competition? We only drew the game, after all, we didn't lose it. At least we played in round one, which, let's not forget, eight teams in each section don't do

Just open two stands like last time. Then we keep the cost down.A chance to get to cup final is worth every game. Any one who went to Leyland daf will have good memories.............
