Rovers boss Les Parry hopes to sign another 'keeper on loan

Tranmere Rovers boss Les Parry is hopeful of signing a new 'keeper ahead of Tranmere's League One clash with Charlton Athletic at Prenton Park this weekend.

The Rovers boss revealed the news in his Thursday morning press-conference today, as on loan Manchester City goalkeeper Gunnary Nielsen is set to be out for a number of week after picking up an ar injury whilst on international duty with the Faroe Islands.

Nielsen has so far played for Tranmere only once this season, that in the opening day of the season defeat to Oldham Athletic, before picking up his first injury of the season, again whilst on international duty with the Faroe Islands.

Since then, youngster Joe Collister has covered for the Manchester City player in goal, playing in eight succesive games for the club, keeping three clean sheets and appearing in the League One team of the week twice.

Parry revealed earlier this week that he was thinking of signing some cover for the goalkeeping position, with the Rovers boss perhaps fearful of putting too much pressure on the 18-year old, who is in the final year of a two-year contract at the club.

In other news, Tranmere reserves last night lost 2-0 to Morcambe in a Totesport League game, with trialists Harrison and Sissoko involved in the game, as well as Zoumana Bakayogo, Tim Cathalina, Jack MacKreth, Sam Morrow, Nick Wood and Lucas Akins.

stockton isnt a trialist he's a youth scholar, sissoko was the other trialist in centre mid!!

I dont watch the ressies, but I do like to keep an eye on their results.

How can we beat Morecombe 3-0 a few weeks back, an then go an get beat 2-0 with a number a fringe players involved.

Did anyone go the game?

Thought it's quite interesting that we will have Luke Daniels back at PP on saturday but in a Charlton shirt would have had him back here like a shot

Daniels was great I agree. I actually think Tranmere having Daniels, meant Coyne was by and large not missed. I thought he was at Bristol Rovers though on a seasons loan, so it will be interesting.

Maybe he'll make a mistake when he suddenly gets all sentimental, or enveloped with a wave of nostalgia and fluff an opportunity to save.
