Understand he was outstanding at Colwyn Bay last night,having seen Burscough in recent weeks they dont have a lot to offer so it will be hard work for the lad, out of interest the right back at Burscough looks handy !

Sit back and watch, are you related to Jack? Just curious as you mention him every post you make. Seen him play a few times recently and looked decent prospect, must be frustrating for him to not to have got a chance in the first team especially considering the injuries we've had lately.

Hopefully him being "hacked off", won't turn him into a Shaun Thornton type player, that gets a 'tude and flounces off somewhere else first chance he gets.

No I take an interest proffesionally in the players comming through, in the modern game players need speed, strength and inteligence to make the highest grade, there has only been a few players that have come through the ranks locally that had all the above attributes,Jack being one of those players, I would include Ash Taylor, Craig Curren and Ryan Taylor.

Thats the problem with English football right now and thats why we did so cr@p at the World Cup this year, English football's youth is absolutely woeful.

This sums up everything wrong with youth football in my opinion, in the present. Clubs in England go for athletes, big people, quick people. Young footballers are getting thrown out of academies because they're "not tall enough" - how tall is Cannavarro?

Intelligence is something we should be looking for, look at the Spanish team who won the World Cup, they are technically good football players. As are the Germans, whereas us English just go for athletes like Craig Curran.

Thats why English football is played at a much higher tempo than everywhere else, we're fitter and stronger than most but technically we're pants. (We're being the English in general)

(Not having a go at you there just something that annoys me about English football nowadays, its Athletes who can kick a ball rather than proper footballers..)

have you seen our youngsters ?

I'm not saying all of them are, and I wasn't talking about Tranmere in particular, I actually think Tranmere does an OK job at it..

Do you think England has any youngsters coming through that have the technical ability that some of the Spanish youngsters do?

We don't have anyone like Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas and so on, even Spains 3rd Choice 'keeper is arguably better than our first.

And it's not just the Spanish, we don't have anyone like Ozil of Germany coming through either..

I wasn't posting about Tranmere in particular (sorry to take it off topic..) and certainly wasn't having a go at Sit Back and Watch, just those words triggered a rant in my head!

Back on topic, hopefully first team football will do Jack Mac some good, helped with Ash Taylor and Ryan Fraughan playing at similar (?) levels with Colwyn Bay and Aberystwyth.

The country does have talent in abundence.
Just look how skilful Fraughan is! Probably the most gifted player in the club with the ball at his feet.
But because of several factors, including the high tempo, pace and athletic players etc. required to play the 'English' game. they rarely can get a place in the starting line up. We are desperate for players who can change a game by skill, but because he is splinter picking, who else in our squad can do it?
The main reason we play the 'English' game is all to do with climate. There is not many places in the football world where the temperature differential is so similar all season!
we live in a very temperate climate, not to hot and rarely gets very cold!
There is no place for 'just talent' Players have to have an all round athleticism for modern managers to want them in their teams.
If England go into the next World Cup Finals, (providing we qualify) How can we play the 'English' game?
The average temperature in Brasillia at that time of year is between 35 and 40 degrees. Our 'game' is not suited to those temperatures and we will get slaughtered in every way.
We have got to learn to play the possession game!
The likes of Gerrard and co who are our current so called world class players, will give the team more problems than some player who can skilfully keep the ball and pass without constantly giving the ball to the opposition trying to make the killer pass!
By then you will see more teams playing 4-6-0, just like Scotland did away to the Czechs.
The game is evolving rapidly and tactically.
