For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the high number of costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.

The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.

Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game.

Stadium - Southampton (New)

Tranmere of course host rock-bottom Brentford in N Power League One on Saturday afternoon, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on.

Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.

You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game onthis thread where possible but these details are updated also on our Twitter Page throughout the game so if you're not following us already why not do so at www.twitter.com/totaltranmere.

great another injury (Sm62)

the midfield i would have is:

Blanchard
welsh Fruaghan

and Darvill at Right back

Blachard can do a better job than Mclaren.

My team would be:

Collister

Darville Wootton Goodison Cresswell

Welsh Fraughan Blanchard

Jennings Showunmi Akins

With Mendy and Labadie both missing, I think it's vital we have somebody in midfield who will defend and I think Blanchard can do that job.

I'd drop McLaren as I think Fraughan is a much better footballer and would do a great job in the game, especially going forward.

Akins has shown promise in attack at home in recent games whilst Jennings has potential so he'd keep Ian Thomas-Moore out of the side in my mind

If he's not fit enough, don't play him. It would be better for him to get 30 mins as a sub and then play for the reserves midweek

He should have had a run out on Wednesday, to give him some fitness, for today. I don't know the reason he didn't.

0-3 oh dear. sadly it's the score i predicted and should have gone to the bookies. i dread the "it's a must win" pregame stuff as these seem to be the ones we always lose. bottom

That was an absolute disgrace! From the first whistle it was laughable. I can't even be bothered anymore to rant, I am bored stiff of watching us and saying the same things every week.

Les Parry has got to go, end of. That was indefnesible, he just isn't a manager. That was a 6 pointer and we were beaten 3-0 at HOME. We are bottom, have the worst goal difference, and just look awful. We haven't scored a goal before the 44th minute yet, its embarrasing.

I have heard stories that the players don't even really listen to him, I think they are just playing for themselves at the moment with no direction. If he is a fan like he says he is he would realise he is not up to it and go. Today was surely the final straw.

PARRY OUT!!

It would help if the Referee could give at least one stinking penalty.

They could have had 2 or 3 against Brighton, at least 1 today, yet Brentford are allowed 1.

Not a great result and worst of all, they got the hammer blow off Mr Bean.

ricci you say parry out?

couple of quick questions would you rather not see what he can do till january and there for there would be less of contract to pay off because were not as bad as last season and we wouldnt fall that far behind other teams if we were poor till then.

also what manger would you want in because we dont have the resources to get a good manager.

therefore the main issue is money unless you have the money to sack and get a new manager then dont shout for peoples heads he was a god to all of us in may

That was ****.

Don't know who was worse, us or the officials.. and I am not blaming them for that performance.

The second goal especially, now regardless of who is manager, these guys are pro's and someone has just scored from about 50 yards with a free kick that had no power on it at all, wtf?

jade I am sorry but unless we get rid of him we will be in league two next year. Then we will have even less money. The budget excuse only goes so far I am afraid, there is no way those 11 players out there should be beaten 3-0 at home by Brentford, and be bottom with the worst goal difference.

I am sorry but I have had it. I have paid for a season ticket, but starting to wish I hadn't. I don't look forward to games anymore, I go because i feel I have to, not because I want to. Its boring, univentive and mundane.

I could go on about why he started Mclaren, the 433 and so on but its all been said. The fact is Les Parry is a good man, a funny man and has been a good servant to Tranmere. However as a manager he is way out of his depth, simple as that.

I will not be going to any away games while he remains in charge. I simply cannot justify spending considerable money on sheer dullness to see us get beat. Wow we win the odd game 1-0 like against Bristol but so what! We will be cut adrfit shortly just like last season.

PARRY OUT!!

I do not know what brought a tear(Sm58) to my eye today was it nostalgia wearing the original colours scarf and shirt and watching the pitch seeing Keith Williams scoring
or John Manning heading the ball into the net with Pat Nevin chipping past the keeper Clark and Clayton scoring for fun with Muiry and Aldo adding to the total Jimmy Harvey controlling midfield Kenny Irons hitting the back of the net Morrisey on the wing(keeping his hair in place) Jim Steel leading the line Ian Nolan & Mungy and Ryan Taylor /Gareth Roberts keeping it tight at the back with the last line of Nixon /Achterberg but all these players drifted off in the mists of time(Sm65) it must have been a cool wind coming over the hill from Tranmere estate that caused the tears to come to my eyes but it was not that it was down to the cr*p that the ones in white were putting up on the field of play Brenford must have belived Xmas(Sm24)had come and the more we play like that the deeper(Sm149) we are going and league 2 is coming.

We seem to be creating some myths possibly as a way of clinging to hope. For example are we raelly abetter team than last year. The last 2 performances have looked no better than that of Barnes team. The squad now is weaker than the one that we finished last season with,
I can understand the frustration with Les.When he was appointed I was disppointed because it reflected our sad plight that no one better applied. But I have no enthusiasm for sacking him as our plight remains the same,i.e we remain unattractive to worthwhile managers. That plight is the consequence of Johnsons determination to operate on fresh air regardless of the consequences. It has led to poor results, poor football and declining gates. Until that changes it is pointless sacking Parry.
I cannot see what Johnsons plan is and his silence on the matter justifies the deepest doubts about his motives.

We may be stuck with his financial control of the club. But I would rather see him replaced as chairman rather than L.P being sacked.I do not believe that he has any constructive interest in the club,So even a chairman working with his hands tied would be better than hamper man

Well if Johnson cares at all about Tranmere he will sack Parry. There are managers desperate to get back in out there, Jim Gannon, Martin Allen etc.

Come on, we lost 3-0 at home to Wycombe last season, same this year against Bournemouth and now today. The worst performances I have ever seen have come under Parry's tenure.

PARRY OUT!!

The ref had a stinker today, gave us absolutely nothing all game but that is no excuse.

It was a woeful game from start to finish, we were absolutely dreadful. There was so much wrong I don't know where to start. Why did we not use Jennings more when it was obvious he was a real threat and they couldn't handle him. Why do we keep picking Glasci, when he's been at fault for so many goals this season it's frightening. Most of all though, why did he pick McLaren?

It may be utterly lame to blame one player for a defeat but here's the deal. He doesn't do anything, he doesn't contribute anything and by the time he was taken off, Welsh and Mendy were knackered from running around after him to have any say in the game. the fact we've lost 2 games on the bounce and he's played in both says it all. Look at the chances we created against Peterborough and Brighton, look how many we created today!!!

Also am I the only one sick and tired of the excuse that we have a young team? The younger players are the ones that are playing well, it's the others that are letting us down. Jennings and Cresswell were head an shoulders above everyone in todays game and they are the youngest on the pitch. I am sick of tired of this being used an excuse. I would rather see the likes of Fraughan and Collister in the team than McLaren etc because at least they give something, at least they show a bit of desire.

Today was utterly dissapointing considering how well we played against Brighton and Peterborough, but it's games like today that will send us down without a fight.

there were plenty of managers out of work last november but none that was prepared to work with the restaints that PJ was imposing. My point is not to defend Parry but that sacking Parry will only work if PJ also alters a pay policy that virtually ensures failure

Ive been watching rovers for more years than i care to rememer and that was one of the worst efforts that i have witnessed we were shamefull, there was so much wrong with the team it was embarrasing.

Here are my marks for the performance :-

Gulacsi - 4 As bad if not worse than daniels at kicking looked shaky from the start & with that defence in front of him not a surprise.

Darville - 3 very poor booked early never seemed to recover constantly beaten by their left mid.

Cresswell - 4 Poor what was he doing giving away the penalty? his set pieces were poor had a bad day.

Goodison - 5 Not one of his better dayslooked very frustrated with the rest of our so called defence.

Wootton - 4 constantly beaten to the ball looked very shaky a game he will wont to forget.

Mclaren - 3 a couple of good passes early on but otherwise totally awful, contributes little or nothing to the team and the only surprise was he lasted on the pitch that long.

Mendy - 4 A big lad but doesnt do very much, poor.

Welsh - 4 Was used more as the attacking player of the midfield 3 but looked uncomfortable and off the pace.

Akins - 3 Won a couple of headers but really didnt contribute anything to the cause, plays with his head down and doesnt look upto it at this level.

Showunmi - 5 Had a shot saved (more than can be said of most of the team) tried quite a bit but lacked decent service and badly faded.

Jennings - 7 MOM - stood out as someone who was trying his hardest getting stuck in and was creative. Its embarrasing to the rest that a 17 year old was head & shoulders above the rest.

Subs - made no impact and not suprising really.

Was this really the same side more or less that played so well in the 2nd hald and should have beaten brighton where again is Ian Moore?

There are so many things wrong at the club at the moment on and off the pitch, the lack of investment the manager the system the tactics.

We have just been easily beaten by a team who had scored 1 away goal in 5 games. In 12 games we have scored 9 and conceded 20, something needs to be done are we are going in one direction the wrong one.

Gulacsi - 2, doesn't control his area, doesn't provide me with any confidence and I don't think the defence has any confidence in him. Johnny Achterberg was there today, would love to know what he thought of him!

Darville - 5, thought he was OK, the booking (which wasn't a booking imo) restricted his game a little, he did OK though, nothing special though no massive errors.

Goodison -5
Wootton - 6, thought the pair did OK, particuarly Wootton who spent the last 30 minutes defending alone, the problem for these two is that we have a non existent midfield, we have two white shirts dealing with 5 Brentford players.

Cresswell - 4, had a stinker today, defensively and set-piece wise, way below the standards he's set himself last few weeks. Can only remember one decent free-kick from him all game.

McLaren - 2, what is the point? What is his role in the team? He actually doesn't do anything, he's slower than a snail and his general footballing skills, e.g. ball control, passing, tackling & position, are similar to that of a five year old... And I'm not even joking, at times I'd rather play with ten men as he causes so much confusion with other players. Blanchard should be in this role.

Welsh - 4, put his body around and covered a lot of ground but never got any breaks, didn't really do much but cover ground, which is much more than his other midfield partner.

Mendy - 4, same as Welsh ^

Akins - I actually think its unfair to give him any kind of rating. He is a striker playing right wing in a 4-5-1 formation. He is instructed to stand on the touchline and we lump balls to him in the air, granted he does win 95% of the headers but thats not the point, theres no one there for him to flick onto at all. When he has the ball at his feet and he runs at players he can be dangerous, we saw this versus Brighton.

Showunmi - 5, didn't do much though looked injured, isolated and constantly fouled, thought he should of scored though when through on goal second half but maybe I'm being slightly harsh. Certainly not his best game.

Jennings - 7, best player on the pitch by far. Scares the oppostion, can beat a man, but he's one player and the only one that turned up today. 17 years of age and he puts the 'experienced' pro's to shame. Need to tie him down on a contract asap.

according to the stats on the os they only had 2 shots on target but scored 3 goals????? I know the free kick really wsnt a shot but surely as it ended in the back of our net it would count as such.

If we are returning gulacsi can we not send back darville and mendy as well, very poor the pair of them

Firstly I think Gulacsi does not deserve the flack he is now getting. He has helped keep us in the game on a number of occasions both this season and at the latter end of last He comes out to collect the ball unlike Collister who stays on his line when attackers approach. While the defence looked weak in front of him Then again at the game today what football did we witness. None with the ball being constantly up in the air. Who is Showunmi supposed to be flicking the ball on to because 99 times out of 100 it just goes anywhere. Like everybody I wondered what had happened to Ian Moore. On todays display we need him up front. Young Jennings stood out above everybody today. I wonder how long before he will move on.

I dont agree with your recent prognosis of Gulacsies goalkeeping. You wouldnt say Reina of Liverpool was a bad goalkeeper but he has certainly let some goals in this season. Whats changed? The defence & the holding mid-fielders. Now look at rovers defence It does not inspire any confidence for any goalkeeper does it,while the mid-field was non existent yesterday.Perhaps if we can get a settled defence & mid-field( Missing young labarde in the mid-field)it may then help, but this long ball game we are playing (hump the ball up field) all the while will have to be changed as no forwards are keeping the ball and this only helps to increase the pressure on the defence.

i do have to say on the point off parry out yes he picks the team he picks the tactics but as most tranmere are unsatisfied wiit les shorley you should all be kick off at johnson not les.

he sacked moore ?
he brought in barnes ?
he reduced budgets ?
he brought in les ?

so if you are all clearly unsatisfied with les as which most of you are shouldnt the blame fall with pj

in les i have faith

I've been a little worried about Gulacsi for some time now. There are games where he has kept us in the match (Bristol away for instance) but then he keeps making some very bad mistakes that have cost us dearly. Take the game against Brighton for instance, he was misplaced for the goal, dropped two in front of their striker who luckily for us both times missed. That game could have been over by half time and it would have been because of him. He cost us the goal against Charlton too.

Now your right to criticise the defence who i have to say are dreadful but you cannot have a keeper who is actually costing us games by making bad mistakes. Collister definitely needs more time to improve but you need a keeper you can rely on and at the moment, he's not reliable!!

The weaknesses run through the team and the quality of signings since the end of last season have been poor.We are going out on the field with too many players that few in this division would pick. We cling to The half game showing against Brighton and Peterborough as though they are typical of our potential but there has been far more dross than light this season.

An earlier poster rightly described the club as a shambles.Parry represents mediocrity but it is the chair and not the manager that is most responsible for the situation.Since he returned to a more active part everything has been down hill. We have a chief exec who has no ambition for the club and no coherent plan.Until he goes this club will continue its cancerous decline. The think that most causes supporters to give up is a club in which their appears to be no hope

We can all point the finger at Johnson and I agree, he is a disgrace. But Les he is a joke, there is no way if he played the right system and managed and coached the players properly we would be bottom with the worst goal difference etc etc.

He doesen't coach them, and I have heard stories that the players think he is a luaghing stock to be honest. It is grim, and league two awaits unless a change is made.

Match very disappointing on Saturday. Beaten by a very poor team. Let's hope we gat some changes for next game. Collister should come in and be given a run.We have to start to build a defence that does not concede stupid goas.We have Bakayoko and Cathlina both defenders who each week run up and down the touchline. Darville is not the best right back at the club and should not be picked ahead of Blanshard or Cathlina. Bakayoko needs to come in for Cresswell, Bakayoko was one of our best players last year both defensively and also as an attacking option to see him not picked each week is frankly daft. In midfield we have to support Walsh and mendy, if ladabie isn't fit then Blanschard should play the holding role. Up front we are missing the experience of ITM, don't know what the problem is but he is key to us staying in touch with the pack.
Have to blame Les for Saturday for his team selection but hope he has the courage to make changes for the coming week.

Les said on the site Iam Moore was still making utterances about not being 100% right with his persistant niggle.

So Les thought it would be better to rest him and give him a potential full game next time than a partial one that might aggrevate the problem.

I cant believe the way trfc started the match. We were nearly
bottom of the league (now we are!!) and there was absolutely
no cohesion, fight or passion (what was Les's pre match talk
about??).

Brentford passed the ball around from the start and TRFC
just watched them.It was embarrasing to watch.

As the game progressed the repetitive sight of Gulacsi trying to find Enoch on the touchline became boring and non productive as Brentford had worked it out very early.(It was very funny (or pathetic) when Gulacsi obviously did'nt look and kicked the ball to the opposite side and there were no players!!)

The question which will undoubtedly be asked many times
this season is "Where do we go from here?".

I like Les.He is a really nice bloke but is he the man to
dig us out of the hole for a second time?

Lets hope that there is more fight at Walsall on Saturday!!
