There was more transfer action at Prenton Park this morning as Tranmere confirmed that they have extended Liverpool goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi’s emergency loan period at the Club by a further month as Rovers’ other on loan keeper, Manchester City’s Gunnar Nielsen remains sidelined with a shoulder injury.

The 20-year old Hungarian joined Liverpool in August 2008 and was a regular in their Reserve side last season.  He first joined Tranmere on loan in April and played five times, helping the team to ten points as they kept their place in League 1 and he returned to the Club in September and has made six further appearances for Rovers.

Gulacsi Peter

Speaking about securing Gulacsi’s services for another month, Rovers Manager Les Parry said….

“Peter is a quality goalkeeper so I’m pleased to be able to keep him at the Club for another month while Gunnar is injured.  He has done well for us since he has come back, has a great attitude and is a good professional.”

What a total waste of the clubs meagre finances!
WTF is Les playing at?
After watching both keepers, I can't believe he keeps going back to Gulasci. Joe is a safer keeper.
I have more faith in Joe than Gulasci and the Faroes keeper put together!
No wonder this club is bottom, with decisions like this!

Waste of money. Joe is more than capable.

Makes it easier for Les though doesn't it, as he doesn't have to spend time trying to get someone new, just cross a few T's and dot a few I's on the current contract.

Joe is better in my opinion though.

What's the point in having him though, if Joe is better. We should be playing Joe and IF Joe gets injured/suspended, then bring Gulacsi in again

I thought emergency loans were for emergencies!
We are not short of goalkeepers even if they are young, they are and will be better than Peter.
If this is not a kick in the teeth for Joe, I don't know what is!
Get a grip Les!

He does have an eye for talent, ivvy. Every manager makes a mistake when signing players. Let's remember, Les has also brought in Labadie, Showunmi, Mendy, Wootton and McGurk, who most will agree all look like good players

I would agree that Showumni has been good and Labadie although not at his best this season is a good player but wooton has played well in 1 game out of 3 mendy hasnt really done much and mcgurk has hardly played at all so i wouldnt call them good players.

Mendy did help secure us 2 priceless points and a superb hoem victory though. If Tranmere stay up regardless of his overall state of play this season, I just hope that fact isn't lost in the mists of time, when some people sum up the pro signings versus con signings.

so hes played well in 1 game and played poorly in several more, hes not been a good signing so far.

He's been involved in more games we've picked up than any other midfielder though this season..

I personally think he's been a good signing, it's not like the budget stretches to experienced midfielders on loan and in my opinion Mendy has done OK.

He played well against peterborough but hasnt done anything really against the rest, i realise the budget is tight thats why its a wast signing gulasci again.

For me im not sure why weve got darville for so long as well, cathalina has been fit for a while now and should be given a chance otherwise it was pointless signing him.

Yes but are we paying his wage. We don't know if it free as long as we play him or a small amount. But i would say that Jo for me has done well but started letting goals in but so has Gulacsi and he can't kick.......................

Every ball is a white ball............TRFC

Gulacsi can kick...it's just that every single one of his kicks is ridiculously long

I know Mendy hasn't been outstanding Bigmart, I'm just remarking, that his goal got two priceless points and at the end of the season when people examine wheat and chaff players, I hope at least he'll get a slightly better appraisal, than a player like Kithson Bain deserved.

The irony would be if Tranmere survived and it was only by 1-2 points and 2 less points would relegate the team by a point or merely goal difference, as then the Mendy goal would like an even more priceless thing, even if he was considered not worth a second spell under any circumstances.
