Rovers Manager Les Parry had mixed feelings after Tranmere's exit from the FA Cup at the first round stage with a 5-3 defeat at Bournemouth yesterday.

Bournemouth took a 3-0 lead inside seven minutes but Rovers rallied and after being gifted a goal back by a goalkeeping error they fought back to level just after half-time but subsquently collapsed again allowing the home side to net twice more and make the scoreline comfortable.

Parry told Tranmere Player........

"We didn't start at all.  It was a bit of a fluke of a first goal, it was so quick, and the other two were decent finishes. We've come back from the dead, we've done ever so well.  Most teams 3-0 down would have just capitulated and been taken to the cleaners, but we showed a little bit of bottle and a bit of nerve and ended up getting back in the game only to lapse again and let them pull away.

Parry Les

"The second and third goals were great finishes.  People will get those chances against you ever game and won't put them away. Today they happened to put them away.  We were punch drunk. That's probably the worst start to a game that we've made since I've been at the Club.

"Even when they went two ahead, to be fair to the lads they kept on battling and didn't wilt.  I know it's a stupid thing to say when you've been beaten five three, but effort-wise I don't think anyone can square anything at the lads today."

"Bournemouth were worthy winners, there's no gripe about that. Even at 3-0 up they could have scored a couple more."

Parry also confirmed that youngster Dale Jennings was substituted just after the hour mark with an injury to his calf and that he would be assessed by Club Physio Steve Walker on Sunday.

As much as those comments may frustrate certain sections of the Rovers support I have to say that that is as good and accurate a summary of the game as you will get especially coming from one of the Managers.

I fully agree with what Les says in the above comments.
