Tranmere Rovers travel the short distance to Bury on Tuesday night to face the Shakers in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, so for all the latest news and match updates, and all the pre, during and post-match discussion, don't forget to check out our Match Discussion thread............

HEADERNEW - matchdiscussion

For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the high number of costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.

The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.

Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game.

Stadium - Bury (Night)

Tranmere of course travel to face League Two side Bury in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday evening so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on.

Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.

You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game on this thread where possible but these details are updated also on our Twitter Page throughout the game so if you're not following us already why not do so at www.twitter.com/totaltranmere.

good stuff to progress with carlisle huddersfield & likely sheffied wednesday in the semis a home draw will be crucial.

a decent turn out of 563 swa, good effort.

Saw the match officials for tonight's match. One of the assistant referees, last I knew, lived in or near Wallasey Village

Good result, but i hope the defense improved given what lies ahaead.
How much were they tested by Bury ?

My first game in a while, and was impressed with the efforts despite playing against a very poor Bury side.

the home side weren't adventurous at all, but we can only beat whats infront of us.

Gulacsi wasnt properly tested throughout and we looked pretty comfortable.

I think playing 4-4-2 worked, however we used Akins far too much and Cresswell nowhere near enough, despite the later being far more effective.

Itm worked hard, and Zoom did well at lb

Labadie was harshly booked for a 'dive' and Welsh was probably our motm.

great effort from the swa too!

A very poor Bury side with little to trouble our defense aswers my question on how we were tested.
With only one goal in the face of that, and the defense still open to scruitny, there can't be much reason for hope in the next round.
Fingers crossed.

the most important thing was to progress, the manner of the vicotry is of little significance now, bring on the semis!(Sm71)

Plus our two (arguably) best players were not in the side in Jennings and Goodison.

Ivvy, what does make you happy? Did you expect a thumping 7-0 win? Would you be happy if we won the tournament?

If it's a poor Bury side as stted i would expect a couple of goals.

A couple of goals doesn't matter though. We just needed to get one more than them to progress. Bury are a strong side. They hammered Exeter in the cup at the weekend and I'd say there's very little difference between their side and ours. They are third in League Two afterall.

You are NEVER happy. Whatever Tranmere achieve isn't good enough. You always find something to moan about!

I agree Matthew, Ivvy seems to naturally extract all the goodness out of good Tranmere results and makes them seem like a team of pointless losers.

If we win 12-0, ivvy will moan that it wasn't 14!

I think as much as we ALL wanna see us beating teams 5-0, 7-0, 10-0.. whatever... realistically a team of our position, confidence and stature are not going to throw everything forward for 90mins of every game.

At 1-0 and looking comfortable, id much rather see 9 men behnid the ball and outnumbering the attacking opposition than having an 'evenly balanced' match that they cud come back into it. Id much rather see a 1-0 than a 4-0 but ITM stretchered off, Showumni limping off at the final whistle cus theyve given 200% for the whole match!

Keeping a clean sheet is worth celebrating especially as we have let in goals recently. Any win away is good and Bury may not have played well but they are one of the better teams in D2. In any case it is in part the impact of the opposition that stops a team performing.

I still believe that players like Atkin are not good enough but recent results give the hope that when we put out our best team we can avoid relegation. That would be an achievement

although bury are one of the better teams in league 2 they did leave out 4 or 5 of the usual team by all accounts including mike jowes & their top scorer ryan lowe so it was maybe made a little easier for us though im not complaining.
