Tranmere Rovers will hopefully travel to Exeter City in NPower League One on Saturday afternoon, so for all the latest news and match updates, and all the pre, during and post-match discussion, don't forget to check out our Match Discussion thread............
For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the high number of costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.
Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game.
Tranmere of course travel to Exeter City in League One on Saturday afternoon in the hope that the game will go ahead so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on.
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Match Off and as a result Exeter are massively out of pocket as they have to compensate Tranmere lol.

I don't find games being postponed with fans already on thier way there very funny, nor do I find clubs with little money like Tranmere potentially having financial problems as a result of this. Idiot.

I took the decision to take the risk with it and have to pay the price - it's just one of those things sadly.
As for Exeter being out of pocket, it's not good to see but it at least mean Tranmere get back their travel costs and don't get affected as much themselves.
The use of the word lol was just something I quite often use and sometimes in the wrong context.

Good point Devon. Their site didn't apepar to have any injury news / updates, so I checked their last couple of results and looing at the squad, I could only see one change on the bench, not any differences in the main 11, so concluded they had no significant injuries, which would have been of a great advantage to them, were this the case today.
By the next match things should ene up a little bit, although the downside to games like Huddersfield and Exeter being postyposned, is that Joss Labadie can't use the games to work off his ban, so he could miss at least one other game he would have played in, even if he's available to play in the Exeter replay, as he won't play in the Huddersfield one this coming Tuesday.

I think it was wrong by Exeter or the league to leave it until the Saturday to to have postponed the game. I don't agree with "Deadly" that it is sadly just one of those things. Some years ago the FA made an attempt to help avoid having the away team & its fans having to travel when the game was unlikely to
start due to the bad weather/ground/Pitch, conditions. An observation of the ground by the home team could be made & a local refferee could be called in to confirm that decision to FA. However, although Torquay,also in Devon had postponed their game against Burton Albion on the Friday,a decision taken by an assistant Ref that was to be apart of the Exeter/ Rovers game on the Saturday.
Mr Pring, Exeters Chief Groundsman decided that taking the local overnight weather forecast into consideration the pitch should be ok on the Saturday to play. The Ref when making his decision on the Saturday morning decided otherwise which left us some way down the the M5 when we had the call that the game was off.I am glad that Exeter have now had to compensate Rovers for a wasted journey which could have been avoided from the off by a show of some common sense from the Exeter end

Also Yeovil's game was called off on Friday and yet Bristol Rovers was only called off on the Saturday morning.

why dont we go back to north and south leagues?firstly it would cut down on the expense,maybe more fans would go to away games,and we would,nt have the exeter postponement happen,there would be no overnight stays-saving clubs money,and lots more derby games.if you get promoted the finances in the championship are larger

Les spoke about that on TV months ago and was against it. I think it was Late Kick Off he said it on and a few others did too. He said words to the effect of, "no matter what some managers may appear to convey about long away games, most if not all like the long overnighters and it's sweeter when you travel 200+ miles and win."
Plus from my observations, you'd only get to play certain teams in the cups, which would spoil the diversity of opposition to some extent and a lot of southern clubs often have good atmospheres, grounds and facilities, so I can totally respect anyones opinion about North and South leagues, in the bottom two tiers of the league, but I'd respectfully disagree with it.
In non-league I can see the point, when some clubs only make £5,000-£10,000 of yearly profits and could find adding another 4,000-5,000+ miles of travelling, to and from games each season, potentially bankrupted them inside of 5 years.
However I agree that when you look at the way the Yeovil Exeter and Bristol Rovers games were postponed, there was clearly an inconsistency in the way it was done and maybe there should be some universal measures, or standard bullet point criteria in place, to make sure all league postponements happen in synch, so there's not a day or two discrepancy between all the league games, as happened in the aforementioned instances.
I also agree with Tranmere being compensated, but think it's a little harsh on Exeter, as the go ahead for pitch use was down to an F.A. official, not an individual, affiliated to Exeter, so it to me would make more sense for the F.A. to directly compensate Tranmere, because all Exeter were doing were trying hard to make the pitch playable, so they are not responsible for an F.A. officials interpretation of the surface, nor his or another officials second interpretation.
It probably cost Exeter a lot more in fairness, if they had monies from advertisers coming in, that might have to be repayed, or bought food for matchdays, some of which may not be able to be kept for next time and gets binned.
Not that I'm saying the F.A. should re-emburse Exeter for any pie costs, or the cost of one or more phone calls, ordering pies of the supplier, or anything like that, but as the decision to go ahead was an F.A. decision, I think the F.A. should re-emburse Tranmere not Exeter, because the F.A.'s policies on such matters, coupled with weather phenomena, are out of the Exeter's hands, as it is with any club.

Its obvious from Exeter's late postponement that a groundsmans interpretation of a pitch fit enough to play football on differs from a refs.I feel that a decision whether or not to postpone a game should be taken in consideration of how far (miles) the away team has to travel. In Tranmeres case (259 miles) a ref should have been called in on friday to make the decision. just as Torquay v Burton (123miles)Yeovil v Oldham (270 miles had been.
Bristol V Bournmouth ( 59 miles)decision to postpone made on Saturday morning gave the away team & fans plenty of time to reach Bristol if the game was on.However other considerations also now come into play on Health & safety issues such as the state of pavements & roads around the ground and seating areas for the spectators I seem to remember a case when a team had under soil heating so the pitch was fine but the streets was deemed to unsafe for the expected crowd.
