Tranmere Rovers travel to Oldham Athletic's Boundary Park on Monday evening for the N Power League One game which will be broadcast to the nation live on Sky, so for all the latest news and match updates, and all the pre, during and post-match discussion, don't forget to check out our Match Discussion thread............

Copyright Historical Football Kits and reproduced by kind permission.
For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the high number of costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.
Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game.

Tranmere of course travel to Oldham Athletic in N Power League One on Monday evening but if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on as you watch on Sky television?
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.
Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game on this thread where possible but these details are updated also on our Twitter Page throughout the game so if you're not following us already why not do so at www.twitter.com/totaltranmere.

We have not tested them at all, haven't had a shot on target and to be honest I could be playing centre back for them on that evidence and have a comfortable night.
It is just a hoof up to Akins, with him heading it on to nobody or for a throw in. I am embarrassed that this is being screened to the nation to be honest, as there is only one team trying to win.
Matter of time before they score, had all the chances and possession.
USELESs!
We managed to look bad against a team with no confidence.Relegation is now looking highly likely as others below pick up form
I am glad I didn't go tonight and have made a decision not to follow us away from home until Les is sacked. I would imagine that ticket+transport+pint+pie etc was somewhere between £40 and £50 tonight. Is it worth it? I think not.
We may escape relegation but if we do I'll have mixed emotions as Les will probably end up staying.

allways happy to get a piont away from home ! poor game but a clean sheet and a point in the bag ! and a point further from relagation
Cheers Les!
It will be good for football if a team as negative as Tranmere goes down. Awful to watch - this kind of thing is the reason crowds are down in the league in general.
No excuses just pathetic.
A point is technically better than a loss, but it's not a good enough result by any means, but I suspect Tranmere might beat Huddersfield now, proving Tranemre to be odd fish this season.
People would prefer Oldham to be beaten and Huddersfield to be a draw, but many times it's the other way round, drawing and losing to teams you are expected to be able to beat and beating others you'd gladly take a point off any day.
Tranmere still need around 8-10 points to survive from 9 games, so it's still very doable.
The strange thing is if Tranmere had actually lost the home games to Peterborough, Brighton and Southampton and lost the away game at Huddersfield, but then beaten Yeovil, Bristol Rovers, gotten a point against Brentford and 3 against Walsall, I think Les would be in a slightly better light with fans, as he'd be getting more results fans expect, as opposed to ones they like but don't expect.
Right now the points situation would be more understandable for some people, if they had occured due to more of the expected results.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
With regards to tonight - it was a poor performance though tonight. We'll need to up our game if we are to get anything from the Huddersfield game on Saturday though.

Delighted with a point away from home. Could have been less on another day but always got to be pleased with an away point.
Couldn't agree more. A point is good....but the performance was not up to scratch. We got lucky tonight.
On current performances we are more likely to be relegated than either Walsall or Dagenham.
Parry's negativity is beyond any logical explanation for it is notjust reserved to away games
We made Oldham look like a decent side which compared to us they were, they passed the ball around well and created several chances were as we rarely kept hold of the ball, no wonder we are one of the lowest scorers in the league. Playing like that how are we going to score?
With injuries and suspensions at a crucial time we are going down to the last game again to try to stay up.
I fear an easy win for Huddersfield on saturday as our tactics are just going to be the same and they have power pace and skill throughout their team.
Board members please note the reaction of us out here.
I fully respect the job he has done to date but from last night's evidence I can only conclude that if we are to move forward we need a proper manager who can provide the motivation, judgement and tactical nouse to turn our squad into a coherent and confident unit rather than the shambles on display last night.
You really think both teams played the same rather than 1 played some good passing football had a few chances and half chances and the other team created virtually nothing.
It's a joke, he's the worst impersonator of a football manager I've seen, he's down their with Barnes. He just doesn't have a clue. They were there for the taking last night, they have barely scored and we set up for a point, WTF is all that about?
Last night was a MASSIVE opportunity for us in more than one way - their are many casual trfc fans who follow our results, occasional game etc - no doubt they were watching on TV. Do you really think they're going to come and watch us after that?
ST sales could well be sub 2000 this summer, the club will die. All because of this style of negi-ball where we don't try to win the game.

Shocking, awful, negative.... I have lost patience now. I will stick by the club as always and it is too late to replace him this season but for the sake of the club, the fans and our half decent players he has GOT to be replaced.
Les was a legend, but that was with the sponge in his hand, not the one in his head!!!!
I have stuck up for Parry in the past, but there simply is not a game plan. It appears that we just sit back and hope the opposition dont score, whacking it as far from our goal as possible, hoping we fumble a flukey goal.
Yes these arent bad tactics if you are playing the top of the league team away from home, but we play the same tactic at home games. Plus surely we could have expected to give Oldham a proper game and go for all 3 points?
Had this game on the TV last night. Wifes comment was "this is rubbish, nothing is happening". That summed up our tactics in one sentence.

I do wonder if @agony is a relative of Les?
Les Parry was an embarrassment before the match.!
He could only mumble about five teams, off camera,, and @#$%& himself on camera. This man is a joke.
True, OLdham tried to play football, but neither would grace Division 2.
Jennings looked knackered after 15 minutes, and being here will destroy him.
It is unthinkable that Parry could continue into another season.

The thing that struck me most yesterday was teh attitudes of the two managers. Dickov was animated throughout, Les just looked bemused.

When you don't know anything about football you can't get animated on the touchline.
Saturday could be messy if (as is probable) the Udders are tonking us at Home.
Would not be surprised if we hear the first chants for Parry to go.
Sad but true.
No money - accepted,
No passion, tactics, ideas or hope - not acceptable under any circumstances, not at this club, not to us.
Looking at Les last night I think he is beginning to realise his limitations, he looked haunted and stressed
I just feel embarassed for myself as a fan and the club as a whole at the moment.
Personally I'd rather be in League One next season with Les still in charge than hope we lose games to get of him and end up in League Two.
Every ball is a white ball............TRFC
It was worse than I expected last night, but then again I did not expect much at all. It was good to see us on neutral ground because I think sitting in the stands you do miss a lot and it enabled me to have a really good look at the team and how they played.
First off, Oldham should have won convincingly because they were the better team and created a lot more than we did. We had absolutely no shape and no idea of what each others roles were, we didn't communicate or move for each other and had absolutely no strategy apart from lump it forward to Akins who either gave the ball away or put it out for a throw.
Team selection was interesting again, Akins just really isn't up to it, Weir had a bad game again, Jennings is just not fit and scared about doing himself a worse injury so why is he playing. the substitutions were a joke, Jennings for Bakayogo I understood but why with a good 15 minutes left did he go to 5-4-1 and bring off a forward and bring on taylor.
The thing that really annoys me is that bar a few players, Les has assembled a good squad and they are capable of achieving a lot more than they have been. Les has zero tactical ability, no idea of how to win a game other than luck, his decisions in games are so bad and his team selection sometimes leaves a lot to be desired.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that if we are to progress in any way, Les has to go. In order to do that we as fans have to act because if we are to blow opportunities like the Yeovil game and last night to get fans in then we are doomed. In terms of what we can do its very simple, when the season ticket forms come out we as fans refuse to sign up until something is done. it worked at Oldham so why can't it work for us.
I would suggest that Johnson begins his search for a new manager now and then maybe if we are safe then he can appoint someone before the end of the season to be able to assess what we've got, who needs to go and who needs to bring in.
I never want us to lose a game and certainly dont want us to get relegated but if les remains in charge with his same tactics that is certain to happen sooner rather than later and he will continue to drive away fans with the style of football the team are playing.
We are in this situation, however in part because of cumulative decisions that PJ has made about managers starting from the sacking of Moore and the strange appointment of Barnes and spice boy.It is not Parrys fault that the efforts of the chairman left him with the only choice available being the physio.
So yes I can understand why there is a call for Parry to go but I have no confidence that PJ is capable of doing the right things to attract a worthwhile manager. His active return to the club has been an unfolding story of decisions that take the club ever backwards. If he cannot source a manager I live in dread of his capacity to judge new owners beyond the impact on his own bank balance.
The problems have been evident from the start of this season and poor Les's limitations are but a part of the equation

Looking at Les last night I think he is beginning to realise his limitations
Les has less limitations than people think. His main limitation is not realising that playing a more attacking and passing game, would almsot certainly be better for the team.
He knows how to get quality players with poor money by and large and I'd imagine he's reasonably good at trying to motivate players or keep them positive, I certainly don't thikn he's a miserable Alex Ferguson type character.
He's also pretty honest about things, even if maybe sometimes his honesty is born out of not seeing the real truth, I.E. dropping Labadie because
A: he had one or two sub par games.
B: your tactics made him play like that.
He certainly doesn't bullcrap people about refereeing decisionns he "apprently" couldn't see like Ferguson does, or take umbrage with referees unless he absolutely thinks he should.
However, if he could actually realise what his tactics don't achieve and stop blindly believing games like Yeovil and Bristol Rovers, are all about laxe players or effort or too many mistakes and that he could change his style to achieve more, he might actually be able to convert more games into wins and look better.
He needs to put more belief in other tactics, instad of just making subtle changes to formation. It's almost as if he might sometimes be afraid to change things, incase it totally ruins games, but he's running out of time this season to put things right.
I'd rather he won 3 games in a row a few times, even if it meant tactically you might lose a game 4-0 here and there.
The team will stay up, but not by the margin it could have been. If he altered his style and possibly got 4-6 "enjoyable" wins, from the remaining 9 games, he'd be doing himself a big favour, when people see more wins that are interesting, rather than getting 3-4 wins, but getting dull ones.
There is a difference betwen not believing in something and being afraid to do it, or not believing your players can do certain things, but he must change or become a self made failure in some regards.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
His heading isn't the best though, you're right - but the skill of heading the ball is in no way proportional to your body height.

With regards to Showunmi. Both points are right. He does not win many balls in the air whereas he should do and of course if he does there's no one there anyway.

Seems to me as if a lot of fans are hoping we will lose on Saturday.
Personally I'd rather be in League One next season with Les still in charge than hope we lose games to get of him and end up in League Two.
I have a problem with your point Deadly.
If we survive and Les carries on. With the budget being cut again and our squad is decimated again, How can we afford a squad that will only get poorer in quality and age.
The attendances are dropping and this will impact on further seasons.
We will end up at some point, doing a Stockport, a certainty to get relegated watching dire football in an empty stadium.
The literal heart ripped out of the fans that love this club.
If we do drop this season and a new footballing manager is brought in, we will have a chance of getting back to what Rovers were like in the old Div 4, with ambition etc.
However, I much prefer the other option of Les going and us surviving in this league, to allow a new man a clean sheet and to pick his own squad, to try and make us have a go in this division. AND BE ENTERTAINED!
Quote:Mikey
Their is no point in Enoch winning any balls in the air because the nearest player is always 30/40 yards away
His heading isn't the best though, you're right - but the skill of heading the ball is in no way proportional to your body height.
WE had a centre forward in times gone by who was not very tall.
His training was to head a ball which was on the end of a string. He was required to leap and head the ball downwards and get that ball swing over the rafter it hung from. His forehead was red raw.
Do any players volunteer to return and practice as they should if they have any desire to be a quality player ?
What are they required to do between games ?
Nothing much judging by performances.
Les has said in the past that most fans don't see us play away, and only draw negatives from the home games. I for one am glad i don't go to away games if that is what you have to endure
I am unsure as to whether to re-new my season ticket next year as the brand of football on offer is dire. The two people sat next to me think the same. I doubt we are alone
Had a lot of text from non Rovers mates who said they can't believe I watch that every week, blind loyalty obviously. But that loyalty has never been tested so much. I think for me it is the knowing the game is going to be awful even before you get there.
I think it is unfair for people to claim certain fans want us to lose or go down. I have NEVER wanted us to lose, it ruins the weekend when we do and I am always made up when we win. What I am scared of is if we do stay up, which at the moment I would say looks a long shot, les keeps his job. Another season like this and the last one would be too much to handle.
I just don't think the board see it that way, if we stay up, I am pretty sure Les will remain in charge.
That said, before the game, I would have taken a draw. Despite Oldhams poor run, we all know one day theyre gunna wallop a team and get back to winning ways. I was more than happy with a point, disappointed tho in the display!
In terms of relegation, I am kinda confident we're gunna be able to do enough to stay up. Dagenham have one hell of a run in to the last day having to play Brighton again, peterborough TWICE and I remember seeing another handful of teams up at the top. Plymouth are a way behind us, as are Bristol and Swindon. Im confident we can finish above four teams this year, but only just.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
I confidently predict that, irrespective of what happens, the vast majority of those of us posting on this site will still be following the Rovers next year and the year after...
Nothing that has happened this season has really come as a surprise. There are even a few positives:-
1. The emergence of Dale Jennings
2. The signing of Mark McCrystal
3. The Signing of Tony Warner
4. Enoch Showumni's goals
5. Arron Cresswell's development
However, unless and until there is a substantial cash injection into the Club it will remain a shadow of what Peter Johnstone envisaged when he first took the reins.
Also if Les does remain in charge the amount buying season tickets will fall and our gates will fall again.
We could be on 55-60 pts already if we tried to win games such as Oldham and held onto a lead.

Every ball is a white ball............TRFC
I respectfully suggest the main one being not to pass the ball to people more and effectively show Les how more passing of the ball, could be more beneficial in helping the team to win.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
