Ever the optimist I'll go for a 1-1. Welsh to score from 25 yards off the underside of the bar.

Big game tonight. If we take the game to them first 15-20 minutes then we'll win. Their crowd will put them under pressure.

Would like to see Fraughan or Mahon start in midfield, especially if Weir has to play right-back.

Well lets hope we do try to take the game to them rather than just sit back and defend

Could go either way. Tranmere for me have had better form since January than they have and the win over them as well, so it isn't done and dusted, but Tranmere do have what it takes to beat them, it's simply a question of will they and if Les will do something to permit it, from a tactical point of view.

If Parry loves the club as he says he does then he must resign NOW with no excuses, and in so doing force Johnson to get his head out of the sand and take some action to halt our slide into oblivion. Parry has never been, and never will be, a Football League manager. His tactics and team selections are abysmal.

I can't believe it. Granted one was a penalty and a clear dive apparently but still, 3 down after 20 minutes against a side we beat not so long ago.

It could have been done and dusted weeks ago but Les' poor tactics and poor team selection has costs us. A nailbiting relegation battle is on the way again.

Never felt so low about us in my life, we are spineless. One thing you have to show in a dogfight is sprirt. We usually do, if that has gone, and tonight would tell us it has, then along with our lack of ability we really are screwed.

There is always a team that absolutely bombs towards the end of the season andI i think it's us. Bournemouth on Saturday could be similar scoreline if not worse.

Bristols win tonight pushes them out of the bottom 4 and puts Dagenham in it. if results don't go our way on Saturday, then we could be in there by end of play. With Dagenham and Notts County due to visit Prenton in the next 2 weeks, both are now must wins.

The game being over after 20 mins has happened quite a lot during this clowns tenure.

Tonight has got to be a watershed moment for the club. If PJ is really serious about selling the club, then for the love of god get rid of Les. Everything about him is an embarrassment. Budgets and excuses will not wash now. The guy has got to go, otherwise we are definitely going down.

Well, on the positive side, there are a number of sides worse than (and below) us who also have to play Brighton, Bournemouth, Peterband each other , as well as three of them having to play Tranmere. We are averaging above a point a game and there are enough games to get 7 points which I think will be enough. Hopefully, we can stay up, regroup and see what is what as regards buy-outs, players and manager. No point having a knee jerk reaction just now, we need stability and some luck to stay up. I admit that Tranmere isn't a very good team just now but it's amazing how seasons change - look at the Little tenure - near playoffs one season , near relegation the next. I think some regrouping is needed after the season end, and I am confident we will just stay up.

our recent average is not above a point per game

Three out of the remaining four team that have to come to Prenton Park are below us in the league, I think we need to take at least 8 points from those home games, although 10 would be much better and 12 ideal.

I didn't make the game tonight or listen to the commentary as I was in work but it is an extremely disappointing result considering Sheff Weds recent form.

It's going to be a difficult run-in and the lack of goals is a concern. Saturday is a big game, and Bristol Rovers beat Bournemouth tonight so you never know.....fingers crossed hey?

Listening to commentary, these players for the most part are crap.

I don't want cups, or glory @gony.

However if we all pump the money into the club we do we expect to see effort, passion, commitment, determination, desire and will to win, and some half-decent ideas on the pitch.

I am embarrassed, not because we haven't won 6-0 but because we were simply shambolic.

That result was dire. Ther only defensible thing is the fact they conceded 3 in quick march, then managed not to do it for a long, long time.

Some teams could have ended up like Cheltenham did against Crewe at the weekend.

Les is failing everyone around him and most of all himself.

Tranmere can still stay up though, but it's all in their hands now and Les's too. He needs to wise up and see what's happening. That squad IS capable of more and could have potentially been on course for around 63 points, if he'd gotten another 12 points from beating Yeovil, Bristol Rovers, Brentford and Oldham, by playing some better football.

I don't berate his selections, I berate the way he uses them. I think the players would look better with a more productive game plan, but when they are potentially being denied more worthwhile possession, they will ultimately sometimes look above average, or just about satisfactory.

Ivvy. I don't think the players are crap, I think the way Parry uses them is an insult to them and the main problem.

There is a massive difference between this season and last season and that's no Chief or Garnett. Garnett couldn't wait to get away from the first team and the chief wasn't given a chance. Personally, I think we should have retained him or even given him a shot at manager. He has all his UEFA badges and his enthusiasm and inspiration is legendary. In fact him and Kelly were the reason we got to the League cup final that season.

Johnson needs to get off his ass and make a decision quickly because this team with Parry in charge is heading into to league 2. I would sack him today and then go down on bended knee to Ronnie because he could get these players playing better and get us out of the mire were in.

We have all the hallmarks of a relegation team at the moment as we are now conceding goals and more importanlty we cannot score goals at all.

We will get beat again on saturday and there is a fair chance we will be in the bottom 4 after saturdays games. The only way we will win home games now is if we manage to nick a 1 0 win as the way we are set up and play that is the managers tactics.

My daughter who is in Uni in Sheffield, went last night. because she is there she rarely sees Rovers and only hears from me and my son when we go the game. She never really believed us when we said how badly ledt they are. Got a text from her during the game to say " Dad, they have no ideas, they don't know what to do". Which I would say sums it up.
Les, get your sword out (if you can manage to find where it is) and fall on it.

I must admit i was expecting bit of a battle last night but infortunately you played like we've been playing for months and like we played against you a few weeks back.We have brighton on Saturday, one of the few team that have beat em this season.

I hope you survive, there are clubs down there at the moment that are playing worse than you but claiming the odd win here and there. Plymouth and Swindon have had it i fear which again is a shame cos I like plymouth, lovely friendly club. Like us their previous shoddy investers have dropped em in it well and truly.

Not sure your physio's the right man for the job though.

Warner - 3 - No talking at all, criminal, for an experienced 'keeper with such an inexperienced back four. Still think he should have been anticipating the cross for the first goal and once again had the ball took round him.

Cresswell - 0 - shocking, not one ball was "average," never mind good. At fault for the second goal, was it? Or third?

McChrystal - 4 - probably the best of a bad bunch but still not great.

Taylor - 2 - Few decent headers, few blocked shots at the end but out of position a lot.

Kay - 3 - becoming more predictable than McChrystal for the hoof.

Bakayogo - 3 - didn't really get in the game.

Welsh - 2 - based on yesterdays performance I'd of dropped him anyway, won't miss him.

Labadie - 2 - tried to pass the ball a bit in the 2nd half but went missing far to often.

Weir - 2 - see Labadie.

Enoch - 3 - lot's of chasing but not his usual troublesome self.

Jennings - n/a - barely given much chance.

McGurk - 4 - few good touches but that was about it (believe he had a decent shot near end to)

What annoys me as well is everytime we win a game you get people saying "where are the les haters now". As I said to those people then, and now, my opinion of Les is based on last season and this, in which we have been terrible.

When he took over it wasn't as if the situation was desperate. Yes it was bad, but we had more than enough time to salvage it. In the end we stayed up on the last day after some awful games. Maybe Mclaren getting injured helped, as it forced him to play Labadie.

Then you think, you have jept us up, return to being a physio gracefully. But he didn't and so from being well liked as a physio, to annoying as a manager but still respected, he is now just an idiot in my eyes. Everything about him infuriates me, stubborness, lack of knowledge, philosphy on the game. If he is a Tranmere fan he should realise he is out of his depth and resign. God forbid we would sack him.

mmmmmmmmm we've had how many managers since 2000? All various levels of experience. All not good enough apparently. They try defensive - it's boring. they try adventurous, it's 'useless defence', try something in between - 'not consistent enough'. All done with ever decreasing funding and a generally small fanbase.

At some point we have to write off a year or two , manage expectation and build from the basic spine. Only problem nowadays is that anyone half-decent is taken by a higher league club or the one year/two year contract runs out and we can't afford them.

Reality check. 'We are not going anywhere till we get funding'That won't come from a North-East-Based-Team style fanbase.

Stockport (to their credit) tried youth and good football - now look at them....

I reckon even Ronnie Moore would struggle with this team of loanees and crocks and youth - let's face it, he seems to have struggled with a Div 2 team as far as motivation is concerned.

We're not expecting to finish in the top half though.

Your post has something PJ - it lacks ambition. Finance doesn't need to be improved for us to be finishing 14th or so, comfortably. Why should we accept funding the club to see half-hearted performances ultimately caused by an inept manager who by many accounts has lost respect from some players?

If PJ has any sense he'd invest in a manager, not the squad. Investing in a manager that would be able to nurture Dale Jennings into the player I believe he is capable of becoming will bring in some much needed £££, investing in a manager will also see us climb the table, play better, which causes attendances to rise which also equals more £££.

The most important thing at a football club is the manager (within reason) - yes Mourinho won't take Accrington to Premier League glory but a decent manager would be able to work with this group of players, get more out of them, better results and performances which co-incidentally will increase attendances - that alone will pay for the investment in the manager, then the inevitable future sale of Dale is where the extra £££ comes for PJ to take (but I bet the debt would remain the same)

She always asks what is going on and can't believe how negative people are, and I have to agree it appears easier for people to be negative and everyone else can agree and feel like they are contributing, giving their opinion when they are just sheep following someone else.

We are not in the bottom 4, destiny is in our own hands, we are not Plymouth, rock bottom. We are not Swindon, pants manager, we are the super White army let's remember that people sod all the negativity!!!
Notts county have just sacked a good manager and their still below us. Have faith please regardless of les and his tactics we are a long way from going down the table shows we are still in league 1 and not in bottom 4. I think the question has to be asked are we going anywhere? Last season we stayed up on the last day, this season will probably be the same. So Les has had a season with his own players and tactics and has taken us nowhere. Will giving him another go improve us, probably not. Sorry but for me its Les out.

Notts county sacked a manager ,that is paying the price I feel somewhat for his flights of fancy and is too quick to cut and run.

He should have stayed at Maccelsfield for longer.

He should have stayed at MK Dons for longer and his premier league ambitions went up in smoke, because I feel he was too quick to climb the greasy pole. Had he spent another 2-3 seasons in the bottom two tiers, or maybe progressed to a championship club for 18-24 months, he might have faired better, but the prestige, expectation and seriously greater finances of Blackburn, were something I don't think he was ready for.

That would be like offering Micky Mellon the Coventry job, because Fleetwood are promoted and in the top 6-8 teams in the conference.

Karl Robinson is doing better than Ince did on his return to MK and Robinson's experience extends mostly to non-league and LOW, so he's not brought any tall tales of heady success, high level experience and experience of what top managers do, into the mix and he was only 29 when he took the job, so was Chris Casper who was 29 in his Bury tenure, so Robinson I think may possibly be the youngest first time manager of all time, unless Eddie Howe and Brian Clough can snatch that off him.

Considering ince has players like Judge, Hughes and Westcarr, he should have done better. The only major setback to the club playing wise, was losing Kasper Schmeichel.

I agree about the comments on fairly faultless players though, which seem to echo with mine, which is that players are not the issue, playing them is. Apart from players like McGurk and Akins and Cathalina, the current squad for me is very good and capable of what Mikey says.

If Les had gotten 3 points against Brentford, Oldham, Yeovil and Bristol Rovers, they'd be on 54 points now and possibly on for a seasons total of around 62-64 and a GD of around +2 to +4.

That could see them into somewhere like 12th - 14th place and mathmatically safe with around 3-4 games to go.

I believe in Tranmere's survival potential, but I'm highly dissapointed in Les. He does so well to get quality players at cheap costs, than all barring the defense and goalkeeper, they can't play to their strengths a lot, because of his blind inability to see a passing game as even a possibility.

He could have at least tried to use it for 3 games and see what happened.

I hate saying anything negative about him, because I don't like sounding negative, which is why I try to promote a positive outlook for the team, but he has started sucking it out.

I am growing increasing frustrated at his inability to observe basic things regards style of play. He doesn't differentiate between when he fails his players and the other way round.

I would happily want to have him retain his services, but preferably as a co-manager at best, not the sole number 1.

This means for me, he would deal with transfers and be at training sessions to give some encouagement or motivation or when players need to talk about things in their private life, but then someone else would deal with matchday things I.E. selections and tactics and obviously be an source of positivity at training sessions too and giving input into schedules.

I would recognise that this costs money, but I think they could if necessary, release Kevin Summerfield to have the co-manager coming in.

Les would then take a small pay cut, so that it could be added to Kevin's old salary to make sure the co-manager was being paid equally to Les.

Frankly getting rid of Les now is too late in the day. Kevin would just become caretaker, with someone else possibly as assistant, assuming they chose to have one, with maybe Goodison as player-assistant, but trying to get someone in, to impose their own brand of football with so few games left isn't worthwhile. That might as well have been done around a month ago, when there was about 12 games left and a 5-7 point gap above the drop zone, otherwise leave it until the summer.

I say this as my concern would be a newe manager playing the right style, but not procuring the Las standard of quality and having a team of partly substandard if valient players, playing with pluck and courage for their 40 points, because too many more Akins type players came in.

Give Les free reign on transfers and someone else free reign on matchday affairs and to some extent training schedules.

Co-managers worked to some extent at Liverpool with Evans and Houllier, and also at Aberdeen with Alex Smith and Jocky Scott.

It's really sad for me to read all of your comments here, because I fully understand the hurt you're going through.
I've followed Tranmere for more years than I care to rememberand it saddens me to see what's happening right now.
Sure it's great that Johnson is balancing the books, but because of his ignorance in weighing up this dire situation, the budget he's balancing is getting smaller and smaller due to the high cost of poor management and poor results and a steady dwindling fan base.
It's too late in the season now but next season in L2, Parry should be given back his bucket and a proper manager brought in to organize the team.
It's no good having him as co-manager as I don't believe any incoming manager would want him around.
Take heart, things will improve in time.

Dr Death, I appreciate what you're saying and I never like to be too negative - but we seriously do not look like scoring. Les has said in his last couple of interviews that Cressa is supplying the crosses but no-one is getting on the end of them. I feel we play too deep, whenever we're on the attack it seems there's hardly anyone in the box, which suggests a lack of confidence i.e. if I'm not in there, I can't miss a shot and therefore can't be blamed for fluffing a chance.

There's very rarely anyone from midfield on set plays outside the box or around the D. Huddersfields first goal on Saturday was a result of someone being there and getting the ball back in box. I can't understand why Mahon, who by all accounts is on a good whack, and is a creative player is still sitting on the bench. If he's fit enough either play him or at least bring him on as a sub. He's sitting on the bench for 90 minutes when there's little creativity on the pitch. Same with Fraughan - he'll run at defenses and get in their face, give him a go!

We have to start to create and take some chances or relegation will happen.

But we are not in the bottom 4 yet!!! Yes we are on a bad run but things can change, Enoch may even score a header. I'd rather be in our position than that of Plymouth or Swindon. Yes times are bad but for those like myself with long memories things have been worse. I wonder what Les sees in Cresswell? We go to all home games and most of the away games and Cresswell was rubbish at SW. How Les can rate him is beyond me I reckon Zoom is a better left back who gives us more options when going forward.

We have decided not to renew season tickets until the last minute coz I am not going to PP to watch football from League 2.

Les struggles in most games and his tactics are a disaster.

We need to get PJ to put some cash into getting us new players, lets get rid of Ash Taylor and Cresswell.

Yes we all love Tranmere, well I do anyway, and will continue to, but I am entitled to moan and be annoyed at the current situation. You say fans like to be sheep to feel like they are contributing. Thats is unfair, if you look around the majority are genuinely fed up, and want to voice their anger at the curent set up.


Interesting you mention the budget fan base etc. So because our fan base is small we should accpet the current awful football? Rochdale Oldham etc have smaller gates than us and seem to be doing ok, especially Rochdale.

Swindon do have a pants manager I agree, but so do we. I mean, if you were a free agent, had a few clubs in for you, apart from the money you would think, can that manager and club develop me? The answer here is no. If you are a winger or forward, you will be played basically at full back with the remit of stopping their attacks, it is just negative. Maybe the negative football transmits itself into negatie attitudes from the fans?

Either way, we may not be in the bottom four yet but I would be surprised if we are saying we are still out of it come saturday evening. We do not have the leadership from above to turn us around, no inspiration, no motivation, just the same useless boring anti football.

Ricci I never mentioned fan base or budget I'll leave that to others. I just want to stay as positive as possible that's all. I'm a glass half full guy and try to see the positives in things. Yes les is not a manager and should have gone back to physio last year but he has been with the club years and if I wad him the chance to manager the rovers regardless of my own ability would be too good to turn down.

The so called coach dave lowe should never be allowed to step foot in raby again. What exactly is he coaching our players to do? Hoof it aimlessly as hard as they can??

Also summerfield should actually earn his money by pointing out to les that his tactics are crap.

Les has clearly hired yes men. If garnet and the chief were still in last seasons role we would not be watching this awful rubbish every game.

Maybe lowe and summerfield were all we could afford under pjs great budgeting. We are probably still paying barnes and mcateer

Lowe coaches what Les tells him to, not what he wants to coach. Whats to say Summerfield ain't and Les just ignored him?

If I was a fan, and I'd took the job on, and had been on a run like we have, I'd have resigned.

Think that Ricci is spot on. I've thought for a long time that many of the teams that to PP play good passing, entertaining football, while we labour. Rochdale for me were a cracking little side and do it on 3-4000 gates less. i find it difficult to understand why we don't just try to copy their style. Give it a go.
If I was a Rochdale, Oldham fan I'd be pretty pleased at our style of play and if we lose at least we tried and played good football.

Cresswell is not rubbish.

He put away a free kick against Dagenham, he put one in at Brighton that Wootton converted, he put one in against Plymouth and he helped get a goal in the 3-3 against Walsall from a free kick.

He also helped in the buildup to the goal, in the 1-1 against Charlton, by initally putting the corner in the right place and Jenning's cleared effort was put in by Enoch.

Cresswell has therefore significantly contributed to 7 points this season, which Bakayogo could quite easily have contributed nothing to, as I don't think he actually does any deadball stuff on the pitch.

The team needs Cresswell and he is young so he will get better, but people need to leave him alone to get on with maturing his all round game.
