Power and Coughlin Get Pro Deals........

Today saw two of Tranmere's second year youth scholars handed their first professional deals with the Club whilst three more have not been retained....

Following in the footsteps of their team mate Dale Jennings, second your scholars Max Power and Andy Coughlin have both been handed their first professional contracts for the 2011/12 season.

Power, a midfielder, has captained the U18 side this season, which features both first and second year scholars, and has been a regular on the scoresheet for the reserve and youth team this season, netting fourteen goals in total so far this season.

He also spent Christmas on loan at Colwyn Bay, managed by ex-Tranmere defender Dave Challinor, where he played regular first team football and won a number of plaudits.

Andy Coughlin has been the regular goalkeeper for the U18 side since Joe Collister's promotion to the first team in July 2009, and he has impressed hugely for the side ever since.

The giant goalkeeper, who has also featured several times for the reserves this season, like Power spent time away from the club on loan earlier this season, joining Mickey Mellon's Fleetwood Town in the Conference.

However, the news was not so good for two other youth team players, David McNamara and Liam Benson, who has been on the bench for Tranmere this season, as the club decided not to offer contracts to three players.

The other is the fifth second year scholar, Conor Roberts, who's season has been blighted by injury,  but has been offered pre-season to prove himself due to the injuries he's had this season.

Total Tranmere would like to congratulate Power, Roberts and Coughlin on being offered professional contracts, and would along with Benson and McNamara like to wish them well for the future.
