Absolute disgrace, a new 1 year deal. So I presume the takeover is off. Another season of horrendous rubbish. I am actually gutted.

i think its a good thing he got us 10th best in goals conceded its clear he just need to get players to score

That is the problem Jade, the way he sets his team up is not conducive to scoring goals. He plays a rugby style yardage game, if we smack it up the field and they knock it out for a throw in he is delighted.

I expect more dull, unimaginative tripe next season now. How long can we carry on like this? We are just delaying the ineviatble relegation with PJ and Les at the helm. At least with the takeover there may have been a degree of interest, it might not have worked, but I would have been more excited than I am now.

I actually feel gutted I renewed now, just can't beleive I have to sith through games like Bristol, Yeovil, Swindon, Brentford etc all over again. Sad day for me this.

Absolutely gutted with this! Got nothing against Parry personally but his dull football has been painful to watch all season. Even in some of the games we have won we have looked like a League 2 side (dags game at home!) and as mentioned above he can't get us motivated to beat the@#$%&teams at home which shows he isn't a manager like Ronnie Moore, just a physio with good intentions. I think Parry had to go after the Sheff Wednesday away game and the wins against Exeter and Orient were just freak results in a otherwise miserable season. I really do hope that Parry rises us up the table and that we actually play are attacking players (starting with 6 defenders against notts county at home, a team on a huge losing streak and in front of 12,000 fans was a disgrace!) but sadly this decisions just stinks of negativity and questions how the club is being run! Tranmere till I die but not happy at the minute...rant over

why cant you 2 be a bit more supportive, its fair to say that we dont have the resources to keep up with southampton, brighton etc so keeping us up was a brilliant achievement when we should be in the same position as swindon are at the moment. I agree that sometimes the football is not great but we have got results from it and with us not being the strongest team in the division it is important that we play to our strengths. I am sure there will be even more moaning if we tried to play attractive football and ended up further down the table than we stand. I dont really care about what you think about the style of football or your opinions, the only thing that i do care about when talking about MOANERS is that the club has your season ticket money

Give the guy a chance. I don't know how many times we have to point out that this was a rebuilding season. Let's see how things go with a reasonably settled team starting next season. Survival was the main target, and when you look at teams up to 8th, we weren't actually that far off a good position, never mind survival. Consistency now has to be focused upon, in team and performances.

nobody is expecting us to compete with the likes of southampton or brighton but its the fact that down to the tactics and formation the likes of Exeter have left us standing.

or we dont sign him up, he gets an offer elsewhere and leaves. we then have to scuffle around trying to search through the managers out of work...none of them take the job cus of the low budget.... what do we do then?????

give the role to a senior player, no experience in management, no idea on the transfer/loan market???

I appreciate the opinions of those who dislike Les, Im not his biggest fan but will support his team for however long he is in charge! But, it is only a ONE year contract....... surely if it was a 'long term' plan, then a 3 year would have been more suitable??

am thinking there may be some release clause in it pending any takeover?? I might be wrong?

Bottom line.... we couldnt spend the next few months without a manager, meaning no signings and players potentially leaving due to there being no planning, organisation etc in the club

If only....

Surely we can take a leaf out of Bournemouth's book. You don't need highly paid players to be successful, just highly motivated players who are willing to work for each other and the manager. Hopefully this is something Les has learnt over the last 18 months. If he can continue to attract the same kind of player to the club that he has with the likes of Showumni, McCrystal, Warner, Kay Robinson and McGurk while maintaining the base of the squad that finished the season and maybe unearthing more talent from the youth system (Max Power springs to mind) then we have hope for a more entertaining season to come.

As always, the first 10 games will be the litmus test for the coming season (and no, I don't count the pre-season friendlies). It is also to be hoped that we will start the season with a settled goalkeeper situation - something we haven't had since Danny Coyne left.

I'd rather have had the season Oldham have had than us - same points but at least they haven't been sh!tting their keks all season about playing in L2.

That said, no one expects us to compete with the top 6, but theirs no reason we can't have been 10 points better off - just by stopping stupid last minute goals, never mind asking us to try and win games such as Bristol and Yeovil at home!

Now that it's done and is unlikely to be reversed maybe the fans should pull together and support the team for the first few games and see how it goes?

Come back part way through next season and say "I told you so" if you feel the need but give the team and Les a chance at least at the start of the season - especially at home.

At least it allows early action in the transfer market which is important when resources are restricted.
The claim that this was a rebuilding season sounds plausible but when you look at the recentresults against Sheff wed ,Oldham,Bristol rovers,yeovil,Notts C,Swindon,all in the second half of the season,then there must be aquestion mark of the success of the re-building.
I like Les and he has done o.k on dealing.It is importnat for in this league it is possible for teams like Rochdale,Colchester and Exeter to challenge and their resources are not so different from ours.
L.P tactical limitations,however, are likely to see us continuing to throw away banker points and so leave us at the wrong end of the division.
Sacking him is not the only answer.It is the management team that lacks balance. If we could bring in a coach who could compensate for the weakness of Les we could do well.
Aldo kept the team punching above its weight for so long because he had a coach that had good tactical ability

Absolutely appalling decision. Mr. Johnson obviously has no ambition for the Club. Dire football to follow with gates to drop. I know of some who are not going to renew and one who is going to cancel his ticket. What a negative, hopeless Board steered by Mr. Johnson.
I have been watching them for 45 years and with my poor memory cannot remember worse football than this season. For domestic reasons I cannot renew my season ticket but if I could I would not. Disgraceful

the thing is, we go to the games to support the team, not just when they are winning. if you think we are going to do poor next season then why dont you back the team and with that support it can make a difference

It can make a difference-like when the bigger attendances[Yeovil/Notts C etc]were present-we got really inspirational performances[not].The attendances will plummet now he is here for another year.

there is a difference between support and moaning at the players and creating tension. that was the reason why we drew at home to walsall and rochdale. why do you think we have improved away from home?

Such a shame that Les has put pen to paper again !! - After the huge disappointments of the last season when the majority of our home performances can only be described as the worst in living memory (50 yrs) - If you read the comments from our Chairman Mr Johnson when he looks back over the season and sings the praises of the great performances at certain games all I can say is that he must have missed a huge chunk of the home games or stayed in the lounge drinking because I cannot believe that he finds that acceptable, such a shame for our club and the direction we seem to be following. P.s Head tennis is for half time warm up not the full 90 minutes - SWA.

Reason we drew at home to Walsall and Rochdale is because we spent the last thirty minutes with 8 men camped on our eighteen yard box, and the other three just in front.

I already made my feelings known in my recent review. I will wait to see what the first 6-8 weeks of next season bring.

Personally very pleased with this. We've showed progression this year, albeit not as much maybe as much as we should have done, but we've started to put the framework together for a good squad.

There's a strong coaching team in place and a solid group of players. If we can really improve our home form next season, which no doubt we'll work on hugely, we will push up the table.

We need stability up top and I'm glad we'll have that for another year, as chopping and changing managers (E.G. Moore, Mathias) is one of the reasons we've struggled to get out of this division in my opinion.

People should be happy that there is actually a team still playing league football (see chester as prime example) if you dont like it go and get the train over the water with the thousands of others and support those lot in the Premier league, moaning bout Les aint gonna help the issue he needs to be backed 100% ,survival for last 2 seasons has to be deemed a success based on we aint got a pot to pi$$ in ...not easy on the eye maybe ,but at least we aint swindon/brisl rovers or plymouth who would have spent more had better/experienced managers in charge and still gone down

Ah now I see the plan.it is the crowd that are the problem so play boring football and the croed reduces.if the crowd reduces the problem reduces.

It is arid nonsense to blame the crowd for results and performances on the field. It was the lament of Hodgson and misses the point that crowds react to what the manager does and the way the team perform.It is not the other way around

I cannot believe someone has actually blamed the crowd. You have got to be joking? Do the crowd demand we play one up front at home every week with the nearest player miles away? Are you Les?

How can you blame the crowd...get a grip! When we'll all yelling push out at the top of our voice's its not our fault we let them set up camp in our half. Hopefully and perhaps most importantly our first few signings will give us all something to get excited about as obviously les parry staying devides opinion, an opinion everyone who pays good money to watch tranmere is fully entitled to! Come on you whites!

Good...... pleased Les will still be here to continue building. I admit there have been some awful home games this season, but I believe he will improve the squad this summer (as long as agents don't let young players get their head turned - remember lads - first team at TRFC, reserves in championship and above)

Les can find players - he's good at that. Les has cut his tactics to ensure we survive - players ... why underachieve against @#$%& teams at home? Les certainly didn't plan for that and we haven't half given away stupid goals eg Yeovil game. the panic against Walsall. Now I believe he will move forward next season with a better squad.

There's a reason we struggle at home though, and why we do well away - it's because we set up as an away team, home or away.

If we actually attacked teams at home (a la Exeter) we'd be sound. Played like that versus Walsall, Yeovil, Bristol, Notts County, Brentford - that'd be an extra 14 points - ok so winning them all is unrealistic but to expect 6 extra points (7 in total) from 6 easy home games is a BARE MINIMUM.

That's Les's problem - he just doesn't learn from mistakes, if he did he'd be fine. We still do that stupid hoof thing from kick off 90% of the time. It's not all home games we should be being really positive, when we play good teams at home his system is probably appropriate, see Soton, Pboro, Brighton etc, but the problem is we are gash against poor an average teams at home because we don't try to gain 3 points, we try to get 1. It's a case of we don't want them to get more points than us, rather than "we want more points than them"

If we could beat @#$%& teams at home no one would be complaining. An extra 6 points (and probably about +6 onto the GD) would see us TENTH. And it would have meant 6 less games of shocking negative boring football.

Les cutting his tactics? So you mean instead of having 11 numbers and a load of curves and arrows on a whiteboard, he just uses 11 numbers and one long arrow, that starts at Goodison and McChrystal and points to Enoch .

It basically means that without new ownership (not likely)our choices are either stuck with Les for the foreseeable or rock bottom by Xmas and he is boomed out.
Our only hope is that with added confidence and experience Les also gets some tactics and the woeful s***e we see every week is replaced by something more entertaining.
oh....and a vist to the doctor for a bucketful of Valium to get me through another one season.

A note on poor Tranmere Rovers performances:
After getting over the Swindon 'performance' it was bugging me as to what the game reminded me of. It came to me that it reminded me of the great John King side that lost to Rotherham in the 1990-1991 season. We were beaten (1-2) by a team that were already relegated (this was our sixth from last game) and we looked incredibly poor.(thanks to the brilliant Tranmere Rovers a complete record for reminding me of the details). I was with a fan who was approx 10 years older than me and hadn't missed a game home and away for years. He was totally distraught as he thought we'd blown our promotion chances, like the previous year. Of course this wasn't the case as it was the famous year of Chris Malkins goal against Bolton that took us to the then Division 2 via the play offs.
I'm just saying this cos even with a manager as experienced as John King and with a side as talented as he had they were still able to cock things up. It wasn't the only bad game I saw that team do either. They had more talent to finish games off if their performance was under par and John King had decent money to spend (for the time).
I'm glad that the Les situation has been sorted out quickly. He's got a lot of work to do and he's already started. He's already made the tough decisions on who's going. He's got to replace these with more quality. Next we know who he's offered new contracts to. See he's given these a four week deadline which shows me he's learnt from last season as we left it far too late to get the squad finalised last season.Next he's said he needs to strenghten our attack so I'm hoping he's going after Lateef and has a few other gems in mind. Finally he's said he's going for the play-offs which means he's got to be more attacking at home than this season or he's going to get nowhere.
One advantage with Les (thinking cynically) is if things don't improve next season he'll be relatively cheap to get rid of as well.
For all those fans that aren't happy with Les I respect your position but please just get behind the team (if not Les) next season.
I think we need to stop beating ourselves up over our attendances/support too (along with the press). Considering the upheaval of the last 2 seasons I think our attendances have held up well. I'd rather be us than Oldham or Hartlepool for example. We've got loyal support cos even the people who aren't happy are still interested in the clubs fortunes as I can see regularly on this forum. I was looking at the average attendances today and ours (free Notts County game doesn't seem to be included) was just under 5000. (with Nott's County game it's approx 5,200) This means that Prenton park is only around 30% full most games so it's no wonder we're struggling for atmosphere.(this percentage is the worst in the division cos of Prenton Parks capacity compared to teams like Leyton Orient for example). I'm hoping the opening up of the kop will help the atmosphere as it was good to see the people at the back of the kop at the Notts county game who didn't shut up for most of the game. Games like Yeovil and the Notts County game gave me some hope for the future in that there's still some support out there for us to pick up but we've got to play better football and the club has to have more ambition to get it. In the meantime it's up to us loyal supporters to get behind the lads as best we can as we're all we've got for now.
