The first round draw of the Carling Cup has this morning paired Rovers with Doncaster Rovers

Tranmere Rovers have been drawn away to Championship side Doncaster Rovers in the First Round of the 2011/12 Carling Cup.

The fixture is Rovers' first confirmed game of the new season, although it will be their second first of the season with their League One campaign kicking off on August 6th.
Tranmere of course have history in the trophy, with John Aldridge guiding his side to the final at Wembley in 2000, with Rovers eventually losing to Leicester City 2-1 despite a great strike from David Kelly.
The tie will be played at the Keepmoat Stadium in the opening week of the League season (week commencing 8th August 2011)

Could be worse, could be better. Winnable, but hardly exciting.

I like this draw. It is away, but a reasonable percentage of the gate would be a decent financial yield and they are one of the slim survivors in that division, so assuming they don't procure players, capable of propelling them about 10-15 places higher, they should be as fallible at that level as last season.
Winnable as you say.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
