Early Fixture Changes Ensure Two Friday Matches

Changes to the League One fixture list for Rovers have ensured that Tranmere will play at least one Friday night match during the 2011/12 season with another being switched to a Friday afternoon……

The fixtures for the 2011/12 football season have been out for less than a week and already little tweaks have begun to be made with Rovers re-arranging two matches for Fridays instead of the originally scheduled Saturday dates.
Tranmere’s home fixture against Bury, which had been scheduled for New Years Eve, 31st December, at 3.00pm will now take place a day earlier on Friday 30th December and will be a 7.45pm kick-off instead.
The moving of this game makes perfect sense for Rovers with the preceding game to it being a home game against Rochdale on Boxing Day meaning there is now a three day gap between that and the Bury game whilst it also gives Rovers an extra days preparation for the trip to Sheffield Wednesday on 2nd January.

Above all the moving of the game might well ensure a bigger crowd at Prenton Park with New Year’s Eve traditionally being a day when people head off to various places to join in celebrations that may have prevented their attendance at the game had it been New Years Eve.
The other game to be re-arranged is the home game against newly promoted Stevenage Borough which had been scheduled for Easter Saturday, 7th April but will now be played on Good Friday, 6th April at 3.00pm. Again this allows Rovers and extra days break ahead of the Easter Monday trip to MK Dons on 9th April.
If there are any further fixture changes in the coming weeks, Total Tranmere will bring you them as we get them so stay tuned!
