Mark McChrystal has extended his stay at Prenton Park by two years.
Tranmere Rovers have today extended the contract of defender Mark McChrystal by two years.
The 27-year old signed for Tranmere in January from Derry City after impressing while on trial. The centre back played 23 times for Rovers, missing only two matches after joining the Club.
His new contract comes into effect on July 1st 2011.
Manager Les Parry said: “Mark joined us in January and instantly settled into the heart of the defence and put in some great displays.
“He’s a very calm defender who is strong in the air and a good communicator.
“When we signed him in January we had the option of extending his deal by another twelve months and on the back of his performances we very quickly decided that we wanted to extend our association for an even longer period.
“I am therefore delighted that he has penned a contract until 2013.”
Mark added: “I really like it at Tranmere and settled in quickly back in January so I’m happy to be staying for longer.
“The Manager gave me a good opportunity when he brought me over from Derry and I’m glad to be able to repay him by extending my contract."

Great work les, solid centre half, good age, great news for trfc. Glad les is signing up the good players on two year deals, rather then losing them after one season. A goalkeeper, some wide men and another striker please les!

Excellent news, a real commanding presence and one of the few players in our team who you speaks and communicates well. Agree with Matty that he is captain material.
I really hope he plays 4 4 2 as well bigmart, and would love to see wide players signed, otherwise the same problems will arise as last season. Wouldn't hold your breath though.
