Tranmere accept bid from German Giants for teenage winger
Tranmere Rovers have today confirmed that they have accepted a bid from German giants for teenage sensation Dale Jennings.
Total Tranmere exclusively revealed last night on our twitter feed that Jennings is in Germany today to complete a medical with the former European champions, whilst Tranmere have today declared that the player is also discussing personal terms with the club.
18-year old Jennings broke into the Tranmere first team last September after a successful pre-season with the club and had an immediate impact, netting in just his third appearance for the club with a blistering left footed drive into the top corner from 20-yards to secure Rovers a 1-0 win at Bristol Rovers.
The Liverpool born player went on to make 32 appearances for the club over the season, netting six times including a stunning strike against Plymouth that saw him run half the length of the pitch before scoring.
He was named Tranmere's young player of the season, whilst he also won the League One Apprentice of the Year award ahead of Southampton teenager Alex Chamberlain.
Tranmere haven't announced a fee for the transfer, but it's believed to be in the region of £650,000, though that fee could rise to just below £2,000,000 with add ons. The transfer is also likely to have a sell on fee included.
Jennings is expected to complete his move to Germany this week.

The add-ons I have been told (but cannot repeat) seem a long way in the future but an initial 650k is pretty decent I think.

I'm glad Dale has gone to Bayern, they have a reputation of bringing players on and it's more likely in the future that he will return to the UK for good money which we will see some of. If he'd have gone to a Premier/Championship club i doubt we would have seen more money in the future and there is a good chance that his career may not be given time to flourish like he will do at Bayern.

well he'll be swapping playing in the third tier of English football for the fourth (and btw regional) tier of German football with FC Bayern II.
Added to the fact Bayern are additionally bringing in at least two similar young attacking footballers to Bayern II he may not even be guaranteed 1st team football in Bayern's reserve team.
And the chance of breakthrough to the 1st team might not be so straight forward. The Wikipedia entry for Bayern's 2010/11 season states Bayern didn't sign any new players that season but did 'give contracts' to two players from Bayern II.
So does this mean that Jennings will not even be signing a contract with FC Bayern Munich?
So he may well actually be signing for a club that plays in Germany's regional 4th division. Doesn't sound quite so glamourous when it's put that way...
But hey, I'll take the money, just so long as PJ let's Les spend at least a third of it.

£650,000 to me is not good enough I'm afraid. Nice money, but could have been more. If that deal was worth £1,800,000, then he was worth at least £1,000,000 upfront.
If the appearance fees are based on a game by game basis, then good negotiating, but realistically if it's for a specific handful, expect the money to be a 1% chance of making it into Tranmere accounts.
So adding on the Cresswell tribunal money, at around an estimated £400,000 as many had stated, then tha's £1,000,050 more for the club.
Or 210,000 more for the budget over 5 years. Well at least that's enough when you include the money saved for Morrow, Broomes, Mackreth, Blanchard and Collister, to probably sign about 3-4 new players, worth £1,800-£2,000 a week and then maybe 1 or 2 more for similar money to the usual.
So a striker for starters and I think a right winger would be good, as Kay is the only genuine right sided player I think the club have, as I don't believe players like Weir, McGurk, Akins or maybe even Robbo could play there and nail that position.
Obviously a left sided Winger too.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

He hasn't signed a deal yet has he? Just wondering if we might be jumping the gun a bit.
I know he probably should move, probably will move. But there is a chance he might decide he doesn't want to move to Germany and would rather hold out for a move to the Premier league or Championtship.

Matt, the whole point is we are not in a strong position to bargain for more money up front. Only Bayern have made an offer for him this summer and they could quite easily tell him to wait 12 months when they can sign him for free.

all the talk has been about dale going to bayern and good luck.west ham were a one hit wonder and the big clubs who need a decent winger would only look at numbers of 10 mill and not such a future/bargain as dale.has he got any younger brothers coming to trfc.bayern[best club in the world].not even the best in germany but looking like cheap low rollers so must be harder times for them.

West Ham are also interested, but Jennings is leaning towards the brilliantly successful, classily-run Bavarian superpower for some reason or other.

I thought that but maybe they want him to be guided and coached from their coaches for a year, and ease him into their style, rather than him remain here.

I appreciate Tranmere were not in a strong position Mart, but it still looks a tad like being stuffed a bit by a big club.
It wouldn't have killed thme to offer £1,000,000 upfront, beacaue it's not like the extra £350,000 would have caused them to fall a tad short for a bigger player, banjaxing the deal.
