Rovers Set To Go Brazilian

Rovers confirm that Brazilian striker is set to sign for Tranmere following a successful trial during the current pre-season campaign....

Brazilian striker Vinny Dantas will sign for Tranmere this week, subject to getting a work permit to enable him to play.
The 20-year old has been a trial at the club following a recommendation from former Rovers player and assistant manager Jason McAteer, who played 5 aside against the Sao Paulo born player.
Since joining up with the club, Dantas, also know as Arnaldo, has impressed hugely, scoring three times in a squad game before netting twice against Shrewsbury in a behind closed doors friendly, with a number of Tranmere players talking of the potential of the player.
He made his debut in front of the Rovers fans in the 1-0 friendly defeat to Chester City, but didn't play this weekend against Colwyn Bay or Prestatyn as Les Parry looked to keep the signing of the player under the radar.
Arnaldo has never played football at a professional level before, but has played college football in America for two years, leading to selection for the All Stars College team.
He was over in England with a number of players from around the world taking part in the Ninety Plus Ministries run full-time coaching camp at Vauxhall Motors FC.
Tranmere are hoping the player can now be granted a work permit, which would allow him to sign a full time contract with the club and represent them in the first team next season.

why cant les play this.
Akins ? Dantes Robbo
enoch

We need some additional players of experience before the season starts.Dantos is something in addition, worth possibly the risk of a contract but not yet someone that we can count as an asset

Dantas wasn't playing against chester.
He played second half at Chester.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
Wouldn't be fair to sit him on the bench and put him under increased pressure by expecting him to come on and work miracles when were chasing a game.
He sounds really good and his c.v makes good reading?
Hopefully this will turn out to be a great signing, however, he's on a 12 month contract and could be poached if he's any good.
I agree we need another established goal scorer, but unless were prepared to shell out a bit of money, we probably wont be able to sign anyone of decent quality.
We've got to see what this kid can do, and hopefully he'll come good for us?
Les if you're watching, get the guy who beat him on a trial too, put them both up front and we'll be cooking on gas! lol
That would be good!
Hopefully the work permit is granted, which is by no means guranteed, and this lad can adapt and be a surprise package.
in particular those players that adorn the premiership these days I know that rules are rules but some times these obstacles
seem to be smaller or non existence for our shall we say richer or high profile teams in the top tier if M****ester U**t** or
Ars***l or any of them were to apply it most likely go smoothly
and would be issued with out any blip but with us being in the third tier I wonder how long this will take with out any objections to surmount. Of course I could be wrong and it will be passed O.K but sometimes there`s all ways a niggling doubt
that we do not have the pull or muscles to progress this to a happy conclusion

Quote:It`s not Huddersfield he would have to worry about, it`s the other place that is the coldestHughJarce
Could be good, however what will he be like on a cold Tuesday evening in February at Huddersfield?

and that`s Oldham and you can not stand still watching a game there

Luton signed 2 Czech players last season, one was an under 21 and I'm 99.9% certain the Czech republic is not an EU country.
Dereka Asamoah, apparently only played 4 times for Ghana, but played in England for several years and of course players like Calvin Zola and Rodney Jack got permits and some of them have had few internationals.
Hopefully Dantas wil be good to go.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
being in usa hasno bearing on his application as he went on a student visa
typically stars from other countries outside eu would have to play for national team etc
otherwise aleague club can submit application and plead their case with the players relevant experience-helpful if he played for brasil but may look at l1 expectations
there is a panel if the permit is refused-once only
the rules can change at any time and it could a case by case basis
helpful if his family are originally from eu -say maybe portugeuse[brasilian]
Personally I would think they better have good reason if application declined as i would shout discrimination>Especially as Les has been unable to find an equal quality player at the right price with potential!!
Then it was play 70% of the national teams last 16 games.
Now by what you said, it appears things have changed again, so it does add a measure of uncertainty it would seem, but hopefully the Dantas deal will be able to finalise in full.

He wasn't in Brazil yesterday! He was at PP!

Quote:It`s also into nights Echo ref Vinni returning to Brazil to start the application for his Visa.Mikey
Then again, if this was in the Wirral News its hardly a surprise its wrong. Local coverage of our team is absolutely shocking, can understand it a little more from the likes of the Echo but the Wirral papers are just awful!

I hope Rovers and Vinni Dantas can get a work permit with the same ease other teams manage to get for their oversea`s players
in particular those players that adorn the premiership these days I know that rules are rules but some times these obstacles

Now there`s a surprise no work permit for Dantas so no Brazilian magic
still makes you wonder
if it had been Ma**hester U**t** or Ars
***l or Liv**p*** or any in the higher profile position would the result go the same way seems I got this prediction right just can not do the same with the lottery numbers so come on Les we still need that extra striker.I guess this still means 2 championship players + raven or is that not happening either
Dantas's background included college football and futsal, which theoretically might have had some bearing on things.
Maybe if he'd played for a team like Santos or Palmerias reserves 30+ times, maybe it would have made more of a difference.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
It would be from lower brazilian league despite his success at college level ie youth and excelling at it.
Matt this is the worry that the fa or whoever never gave this a chance
Has any one ever played beach soccer.I was screaming to be keeper from minute one.It is tough and if you are good at it,the fitness, skill and reaction time is second to none.
Maybe trfc naive enough to thimk that they would get a fair hearing. As another post said how do the big clubs get their 'youth equivalent' a work permit.
Maybe rovers should ask lfc or their lawyers how its done and appeal
Tranmnere could appeal, but if it is going to involve any cost at all, then that's not in the clubs interests, because then club representatitves have to potentially pay to travel and stay in London I would presume, plus lawyers as well.
It's only one player and much as thogh he could have been possibly a solid acquisition, the clun is better focusing its energies on the remainder of player recruitment and setting themselves on final preparations for the forthcoming seasons start.
There might have bene a vague point to appealing if this had occured 3 weeks ago, assuming an appeal could have been resolved before the seasons start, but in reality it's not worth it.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
Matt we can always have a loan striker as les said it was available so urgency less of an issue
Now if les or the fans werent bothered I see your point and maybe just cut out the tape and sign the foreigner musiuk if that is acceptable to the fa
Maybe they can help pick les s team as well
perhaps a few years ago he might have been granted a permit
but with the financial situation with in football and all them players out of contracts not saying that the reason given was right but from the PFA point of view I can see the logic behind it.
But from our end of the argument it did not do Tranmere any good nor did it do Dantas any favours and the cost of appealing(if any such route was available)would be costly and time consuming.
So we may have to let this one go but I shall keep my eyes and ears open to see if in the future Vinni Dantas signs for any one else and ends hitting the headlines with his scoring ability and what might have been for us.

It seems that according to Les on radio Merseyside it was the PFA(footballer`s union)that put most if not all of the blocks on the work permit for Dantas some of the reasons being that he was not a proven player he was only young and why should Tranmere try to bring him in when there were over six hundred plus players of all ages out of contract and looking for clubs
perhaps a few years ago he might have been granted a permit

Since when have a union had any right to make this sort of decision? They are not legally empowered to do so. That sounds a load of bobbins to me.If that is the case then NO other team should be allowed to sign up a young player from outside the EU-you know that won't happen.
There's no logic behind it at all because if these six hundred plus players were good enough or didn't asked for ludicrous amounts of money, then they would have been signed up.
What if we asked a favour of Liverpool what with John mcMahon and all and get them to sign him and then loan him to us?

Logic dictates you're not going to have every single player looking for a chance and getting it, but it doesn't mean all of the ones out of contract are all greedy money grabbers, or players with an attitude that are hard to work with.

I didn't use any of the words 'all'[apart from at all] or 'every single' or say that they had an 'attitude that are hard to work with'.

if "some of" these six hundred plus players were good enough or didn't asked for ludicrous amounts of money, then they would have been signed up.
Or like this.
Quote:Hoots Mon
if these six hundred plus players were good enough or didn't asked for ludicrous amounts of money,"to use just a couple of potential reasons", then they would have been signed up.
Then it wouldn't have looked like you were stating two and only two reasons for all players struggling for deals.
Bearing in mind things like injuries, attitude problems, clubs offloading to save money when they're struggling, or to avoid breaching a salary cap and players moving closer to family, but in doing so restricting their chances of a deal, could all be reasons for not getting signed, as opposed to just being greedy or not good enough.
Just my interpretation, not being picky, but it just looked like you were labelling every out of contract player as poor or effectively greedy.
