A superb goal from debutant David Buchanan sealed a second successive win for Rovers away at Leyton Orient to maintain the unbeaten start to the new season......

Tranmere made it two wins out of two with victory at Leyton Orient on Saturday afternoonwith debutant Dave Buchanan firing in from 30 yards to earn a 1-0 victory in stunning style.
Les Parry axed both full backs after Tuesday defeat at Doncaster, with Dave Buchanan and David Raven coming in for Zoum Bakayogo and Michael Kay whilst Enoch Showunmi made his first start of the season, meaning Mustafa Tyriaki had no place in the sixteen man squad as Rovers lined up as follows:

Rovers registered the first shot on goal when Robbie Weir shot well wide whilst at the other end Jimmy Ryan headed narrowly wide for Russell Slade’s side.
Adam McGurk’s cross appeared to hit an Orient arm in the area, but appeals were turned away, before Jamie Cureton tested Owain Fon Williams.
McGurk was then sent clean through by Showunmi, but the striker who scored twice on the same ground last season sent his effort wide of the post to ensure a 0-0 half-time scoreline that perhaps didn't reflect the way the game had gone.

After the break Dean Cox forced Fon Williams into another save, before the same player shot wide shortly afterwards as the home side started the brightest in the second period.
Andy Robinson curled agonisingly wide for Rovers before the first key moment of the game came at the other end as Fon Williams turned Jamie Cureton’s effort onto the post, before denying Alex Revell from the rebound.
That double save proved crucial as the deadlock was finally broken on the hour mark, when David Buchanan fired home from long range for the dream debut after picking up the ball from a Robbie Weir header down into his path.
Scott Cuthbert and David Mooney both misfired for the hosts, as they searched for an equaliser and as the game went on Orient put pressure on the Rovers goal, but Parry's men defended well, and fully deserved their 1-0 victory to ensure Tranmere's first season opening double haul for twenty years!

Owain Fon Williams
There were some good outfield performances, particularly in the attacking third of the pitch but the Man of the Match Award without doubt belongs to goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams who made a number of crucial saves including a top class tip onto the post shortly before Rovers took the lead themselves.
