Donaldson Completes Loan Move to Prenton Park

Tranmere have today completed the signing of Newcastle youngster Ryan Donaldson on a one month loan deal......
Tranmere have today completed the signing of Ryan Donaldson on a one month loan deal from Newcastle United.
The 20-year old, who can play in midfield or attack, has progressed through the youth ranks at St James’ Park after joining them at the age of 10.
Donaldson made his first team debut for Newcastle in August 2009 and has made six appearances for his home town club. He spent two months on loan in League 1 at Hartlepool United last season where he played 12 times.
He has represented England at both under-17 and under-19 levels.
Manager Les Parry said of the loan signing....:
"I'm really pleased to be able to bring Ryan to the Club. He’s a talented young player who I’ve watched a lot for Newcastle’s reserves and last season for Hartlepool and he’s always impressed me."
“He’s good on the ball and has an eye for goal and he’ll be an excellent addition to our squad. I’d like to thank Newcastle manager Alan Pardew for allowing Ryan to join us.”
Ryan will be available for Tranmere’s home game against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday 17th September, kick off 3pm.

Les says he has an 'eye for goal' ..... But he hasn't scored for either Newcastle or Hartlepool or have I missed something ??

That's hardly the only football he's ever played though is it? Why do our fans insist on writing players off before they have kicked a ball?
Seem to remember Raven getting slated when he signed too.

Scoring is not the full picture. How many goals has he set up for clubs?
How many times has he linked up in moves to create goals?
THe guy who sets up the scorer gets an assist, but does the guy passing to him? no. Is Donaldson that guy?
Donaldson has also scored internationally.
Why can't people just use some basic flipping logic. They don't see many goals on wikipedia pages and assume a forward player does little to nothing, which presumably means Robbo is a so-so player, for only scoring once this season, but wait, he set up two as well, so as long as Tranmere fans can see it happen that's okay, but loan players or new players potentially assisting quite a bit when they can't see it, means it probably doesn't happen right?.
I hope Donaldson proves people wrong, to serve them a lesson.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Yes to be fair sub is right. Yes it's not out this world signing but it's only cover for a month. And as said let's not judge players before they play for us.......................

Sub.... I'm not 'writing him off' and I will back him for the month he wears the Tranmere shirt. I was just surprised by Les's comments. He might have scored in the Central League or Youth football but to make that comment about someone who hasn't scored in league football I find strange. Hope he scores tomorrow... Or provides an assist or more importantly is part of a team that wins...

He wants to come back whne he's able and Les has said he'd be looking to do something perhaps in the future on that score.
I'm glad you see the sentiment Kop man. It's often too easy for people to use scapegoats in football or miss the bigger picture.
Take the World Cup game against America for example. Yes Green made a goof, but second half he nailed a great save to stop a 2-1 scoreline and it wasn't his fault other shots America had were decent but not nearly world class enough for him to pull off a few more match saving moments and restore his public persona.
Why did people scapegoat him, because the middle and forward players couldn't score a second or even third goal, but working out who was to fault, (Gerrard can't be let off just because he scored after 4 minutes), would be very hard, because it might have been some or all of them and they didn't do anything that stood out, like a couple of terrible free kicks or corners or a few too many poor passes from someone normally reliable.
His goof was the only thing that stood out so he got blamed for England failing ot beat a solid team, that they could have beaten by a 2-3 goal margin.

He looked capable of going past players, something our other midfielders cannot do, so it was a shame to see him limp off.
