Tranmere land Everton youngster on loan deal

Tranmere Rovers look set to land Everton youngster Jose Baxter on loan after the 19-year old wrote "Happy to be going on loan tomorrow to tranmere. Looking forward to meeting the lads and getting 3 points on saturday" on his Twitter account.

Baxter is a young midfielder who has represented England at schoolboy level, whilst the Bootle born Everton number 37 has also played for the Toffee's on fourteen occasions at first team level.

He made his Premier League debut for Everton during the 2008/09 season, coming on as a substitute against Blackburn Rovers aged 16 years and 191 days, making him the Goodison Park club's youngest ever player.

Les Parry has moved to bring the player in after loanee Ryan Donaldson picked up a grade 2 hamstring strain against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, ruling him out for around six weeks.

Baxter can play in midfield or upfront, and may be best suited to playing just behind the striker like Andy Robinson does for Rovers, whilst he can also play on the wing.

He will provide cover for Martin Devaney and Andy Robinson who are still only returning from injuries.

Baxter becomes the first player to join Tranmere from Everton since Thomas Myhre came to the club in 2000.

Spoke to a few Everton fans and he was raved about when he broke through. Maybe lost his way a little bit but on paper this looks like a great signing. Lets hope he has an immediate impact.

Perhaps a way to incorporate both Baxter and Robbo, as opposed to using Baxter to replace Robbo.

He does look like a choice signature though I do admit, although what does this indicate about the supposedly icy relationship between Everton and Tranmere regarding loans?

Was there actually any such Kenwright, Johnson uber-apathy, as was sometimes made light of for the past several years and if so what has changed that relationship now?

I mean loaning Baxter for a month for around 30%-40% of his money. won't seriously improve Everton's financial fortunes.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
