Tranmere Rovers v Bournemouth Match Discussion
By Deadly Submarine
September 30 2011
If you can't make Tranmere's game at home to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend......

For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the more costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.

Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game as well as a half-time report on how the game is going for the benefit of those who are unable to make it.
Tranmere of coursehost struggling Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon in NPower League One so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.
Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game on this thread where possible whilst there will also be our usual update service from our Twitter feed @totaltranmere so if you are not already following us it may be worth doing so!

We'll win this one 4 - 0

We just do not score enough goals, I have been stressing that until we address that we are not going to progress and may struggle, and I think that is evident after Yeovil and today. When teams come here and the onus is on us to break them down, it is painful to watch.
Annoyed with Les today. He left it late to change things, and in my opinion still has no plan B. He said we are lucky that we don't have to rush Robbo and Devaney back because Akins and Mcgurk are in great form. Well I will give you Akins, Mcgurk was poor again, and has been for a while.
Getting slightly anxious now. We are so toothless up front it us unreal. Les needs to learn to change formations from time to time, especially at home. Not good. We need Robbo back so much.

However he wasn't the only one and Weir was also poor as was Enoch and to some extent Welsh (specially his corners).

minutes we had no ideas hoof ball came back into play which resulted with Bournemouth regaining the ball every time sorry Les you stated you wanted Fortress Prenton Park back and for us to play good attacking football resulting the slow increase in the gates well again what was served up today was not good and since the start of the season we(those who pay to watch)have been saying find some one who can score we are like a headless
chicken in the box it was going no were in the second half like the first could have put Tiryaki in earlier along side Enoch and tried that out with both of them leading the attack down the middle and get the balls into the box for them to pick up ok it might have failed but it could have resulted in a goal or two we should be winning these games looks like our
poor failings in the goal scoring dept will cost us in the long run a will result in us dropping down the pecking order in the league,Les get it sorted and quick(are Muiry and Aldo free give the pair a zimmer each and put them in the box around the far post and perhaps they can poach the odd goal)
With a someone who can score goals (even on form Showi has never been prolific) we could be a sound side. As it is we will drop easy points. It is more a matter of how often that will determine if we are to slip further down the table.
The one thing i do not go with is blaming refereee decisions on a one game basis decisions can change a result but overall what a team does and not what a referee does is the major factor on points and position
I thought after he scored the other week he would kick on from that because that's what happened last season. I really think his head has been turned, he looks like he doesn't want to be there so in my opinion, let him warm the bench and give someone else a go. We have to do something different because it's not working.
Get some balls Les, drop showumni and give muzzy games to prove his worth.
Quote:"out of form teams" comoing in to this match, previouse three games they had won 2 lost one ! were as we had won one and lost TWO !DevonExile
failure to beat out of form teams echoes too many performances of last season. The reality is that if forwards are not scoring goals then points will be dropped. It will help when players return from injury but we do like strike power. There were high hopes for mc Gurk based on a couple of performances at the end of last season. He looks most potent when he is wide but there is no real evidence that he will score goals.Tiryaki shows the problems of judging aplayer on pre season games. On the other hand i can see why you take a punt on the type of signing but looks raw and i am not sure that he will be much more than what he is now.

They guy is not someone with a at least 40-50 career games under his belt and this is his first loan spell and he's not getting long to impress, with just a month, so it will be difficult for him to do a lot to impress.
Given a good 3 month loan spell with no injuries he could prove to be a valuable asset, but the fact is as well, he's the 4th choice replacement for Robinson behind Wallace, Donaldson and that other guy they tried to procure before the Carlisle game, whoever he was.
I'd suggest Les tries bumping him up into the front position for the Accrington game, seeing as he's rumoured to be a striker and put Tiryaki in behind him, to give Tiryaki space to run, then slot Power in the middle with Labadie.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
mcgurk was shocking, weir should have been brought off for mustpha i fort and gone 442 just my opinion.
akins was amazing once again i said in summer give him a chance and he is showing he was worth the extra year.
ash had a solid game at the back.
just think if mcqurk plays how he did begining of the season results will change think possibly need to get devaney back in team to put a rocket up his hoop
and i was a bit disapointed with some fans shouting for les head felt that was un called for

Les doesn't help himself does he. Saying in his after match press conference "our finishing today was as bad as it has been in training", then laughing. Nice to hear that, good job I am paying for it.

well atleast he knows its a problem and isnt making excuses he is being honest we had the chances maybe to halfway decent penelty shouts.

I don't get this McGurk was shocking rubbish that's been on here.
Sitting right in front of him in the BR, he looked the best of our forwards. Looked the only one with any real quality (Akins is just a runner who gets by on work rate and that's not a knock after McGurk he was the next best (or least worst) of the forwards) and certainly the only player in the team capable of delivering a decent cross. Not got much in the way of pace but could beat a man enough to at least get the cross in.
Baxter was a real dissapointment - barely noticed him in the second half and showed no real interest. Opposite of Donaldson last time who is probably an inferior player but showed genuine enthausiasm.

Not meaning to be picky but christ almighty difficult to take anyone seriously who can't spell thought.
Anyway ... all very well saying bring on mustpha but assuming you mean our Turkish (ish) forward by all accounts he's not looking League class at the moment so not sure what good that would do.
There seems to be a deluded element of our support .. who seem to think a change to 442 will solve everything. It wont. Maybe if you use a runner like Akins as one of the two who would track back for a 442 with Enoch and Mustapha sounds like a complete disaster.

Everyone has their ideas and say Les should do this and Les should do that, however he is clueless ands is incapable of any sort of plan.
Based on resources, Tranmere are over-achieving so that's a pretty clueless sort of thing to say yourself.
As for McGurk, he was better in the second half (slightly) but in the first half he was abysmal, kept on losing the ball FAR to much.
That's our biggest problem, we don't retain the ball thus invite pressure onto ourselves constantly.

we were fairly solid at the back though the ball was launched forward too much instead of try pass it round. Weir was anonymous welsh on set pieces again was poor baxter was ok when got posession akins tries hard but lacks quality mcgurk was very poor and enoch continues to struggle.
need to change tactics and formation at home and the lack of goals is alarming
Quote:HughJarce
So he is using these resources effectively and properly is he? Most of us can see what is wrong, who is playing out of position, the tactics, the lack of a game plan, the players who should be dropped until they improve. A great many people think that, so they are all clueless as well?
Agree with your thoughts.
Take the long ball everyone complains of.
Parry..."" I don't want to see you do that again " or,
"get rid of it"
Personally I think he could try with 5-3-2.
Enoch, McGurk (Strike)
Labadie, Welsh, Weir (Middle)
Buchanan, Raven (Wing Backs)
Bakayogo, Goodison, Taylor (Defense)
When injured player come back, put McChrystal inbetween Goodison and Taylor and then Bakayogo on the bench.
Then replace Labadie with Devaney and Weir with Robbo and leave Welsh in the middle.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Playing one upfront, means the one upfront will either struggle or succeed, if he struggles then consider replacing him, but at least you know the problem, as opposed to having two strikers struggling and possibly wondering who's affecting who?
However Tranmere should be looking at the two man strategy right now as it would benefit.
The system used at the moment, definitely works better with the two solid experienced guys in it who are out right now, though whether the players replacing them, simply can't fit in with the system, or are just lacking in the qualities of the injured players, I'm not too sure.

Sorry apart from the last ten minutes at the end of the game were with a touch of luck we might have nicked it we hit the post had one or two cleared off the line by players saving on the line or just getting in the way but over the first eighty
minutes we had no ideas hoof ball came back into play which resulted with Bournemouth regaining the ball every time sorry Les you stated you wanted Fortress Prenton Park back and for us to play good attacking football resulting the slow increase in the gates well again what was served up today was not good and since the start of the season we(those who pay to watch)have been saying find some one who can score we are like a headless

It seems that our poor failings in the goal scoring dating back to this quote of mine on the 1st Oct 2011 has indeed resulted in us dropping down the pecking order in the league
since that date this prophesy or predication of mine was one that I did not want to come true and I hoped Les could have found some one to come to prove me wrong but he failed to find that goal scorer for what ever reason. At the time when we were winning games it was only by the odd goal but that run was not going to last as other teams got wise and would counter Les`s game plan. They would score one perhaps two and then shut up shop knowing full well our attack was blunt as their was no predator strike force in our line up and as our next four games line up Preston/Carlisle/Charlton/Oldham results from those games will be hard to get and results like yesterday at Wycombe that should have resulted with a point
at least and on paper a win at best and we would have had a small cushion of three extra points on the table to at least counter any poor result coming out of the next four games it is going to be a hard run in till the end of the season.
McGurk seems to be getting some form now, so hopefully that continues as they need someone to step up and get goals.
