Showunmi Up For North West Award

Rovers striker nominated for League One North West Player of the Year award
Tranmere Rovers striker Enoch Showunmi has been nominated for the North West League One Footballer of the Year award in this season's North West Football Awards.
Showunmi was Rovers' leading scorer last season with thirteen goals and won Tranmere's Player of the Season award in his first year at Prenton Park, which has led to him being nominated in the fourth NWFA.
The Nigerian, who joined Tranmere on a free transfer after being released by Leeds United at the end of the 2009/10 season, is up against three other players from League One clubs, Kieran Lee of Oldham, Gary Jones of Rochdale and James Berrett of Carlisle, a player who Tranmere nearly signed from Huddersfield before he decided to join the Brunton Park club.

The North West Football Awards have been held on three previous occasions, in 2007, 2008 and 2010, with Tranmere defender Ian Goodison winning the League One player of the year award on each occasion.
Rovers will therefore be hoping that Showunmi can keep up Tranmere's run in the competition and make it four successive wins for Tranmere players.
