Parry Post-Match: " We Dominated the First Half"

After Tranmere were pegged back to a 1-1 draw away at shaky League leaders Charlton Athletic on Saturday afternoon thanks to a controversial penalty ten minutes from time, Rovers boss Les Parry was satisfied with his side's performance..........

Tranmere Manager Les Parry admitted that his players thought the penalty decision that denied his side all three points ten minutes from the end of the game was a harsh but he that he hadn't seen it himself as unbeaten Charlton got out of jail to remain unbeaten despite a poor performance.

Les Parry told Tranmere Player after the game...

"I didn't see it (the penalty).  All I know is our lads said if a penalty was given every time there was that much contact in the area there would be twenty penalties every game.  But I didn't see it so I can't slaughter the referee about it."

"I was shouting at him at the end 'just give them a goal and be done with it' because he just kept on giving them free-kicks on the edge of our area.  So I just thought give them a goal, it will make him happy and then at least we all know where we are then."

"I thought we dominated the first half, there was only one team in it and we could have been more than one up.  We didn't work the goalkeeper quite as much as we should have for all the possession and chances we had."

"In the second half I thought we started off really well but then we gave a few sloppy balls away and that lifted them.  But on the break it looked as if we might nick one."
