The Tranmere Rovers Trust (The Trust) is pleased to announce that Tranmere Rovers’ record goal scorer Ian Muir has agreed to attend the final fundraising event on Friday 14th October in its campaign to raise £300,000 towards a potential takeover of Tranmere Rovers FC.

The Trust will be holding two public events at Prenton Park this week on Thursday 13th and Friday 14th October in a final push to encourage supporters and local businesses to join the scheme. The Trust hopes to have additional former players in attendance at the event on Friday. Doors will open at 7.00pm each evening.

Speaking of the final fundraising push and the big event on Friday, Trust chairman Ben Harrison said....

"Ian Muir is a legend in the eyes of all Tranmere supporters.  We are delighted that he has agreed to support our campaign and hope that supporters will take the opportunity to come along to the event and meet one of the all-time Rovers greats”

“The campaign to raise funds towards the potential purchase of Peter Johnson’s shares is reaching its finale and we need as many supporters as possible to pledge their support over the next few days.”

“Members of the Trust board will be available to answer questions and take pledges and payments in the Belmont Suite on Thursday.  We will then hold a final event in Aldos on Friday, where Ian Muir will be there to speak to supporters.  There will also be a raffle, quiz and a buffet laid on by the Trust as a thank you to fans for their support.”

“We are hoping for a surge of pledges close to the deadline in the same way as most people buying season tickets tend to wait until the last few days of the best offer. We hope that these two events will encourage supporters to get down to Prenton Park and sign up on the night.”

The Trust would also like to remind supporters that there is a 6-month payment plan for the Gold option on its
website at www.tranmereroverstrust.co.uk. This will mean that supporters can make 6 monthly payments of £52.00.

Trust Chairman Ben Harrison added....

“We understand that money is tight in the current economic climate and that fans may not be able to find £300 up front.  We hope that this new payment plan will encourage those with less disposable income to take up the Gold option.  We would encourage those that cannot attend on the two event nights to visit the Trust website to sign up.”

Trust chairman Ben Harrison and board member Mark Randles will also be making an appearance on Alan Jackson’s Total Football show on Radio Merseyside at 7pm on Wednesday 13th October 2011.  Supporters tuning in for coverage of the Accrington Stanley game will be able to hear what they have to say.  Further information can be obtained on the Trust website or by e-mailing info@tranmereroverstrust.co.uk

I'll be going to this tonight. I'm interested in seeing what the latest news is with the trust. Looking forward to seeing Ian Muir too.

Any chance of handing over the number 10 shirt to him and tell him to be out there by the centre spot around 3pm tomorrow afternoon we could do with a real striker in white on that pitch.

Tonight was a great evening all in all and the Trust I think got lots more money towards the target.

Was nice to see both Ian Muir and Chris Malkin there and was great to meet Wiipatnevin from this Forum as well. Nice to put a face to the name.

Yeah it was a good event. I'd urge anyone who hasn't pledged their support to the trust to do what ever they can afford to help out. They seem like a really genuine bunch.
It was a big thrill to meet and shake the hands of Chris Malkin and Ian Muir. I was a bit star struck with them to be honest!
It was good to meet you Deadly and Mikey too!
