Tranmere hit by fresh Robinson injury blow

Article Header - Breaking News

Tranmere's attacking midfielder Andy Robinson could face upto six weeks on the sidelines after injuring his knee in training on Tuesday.

The 32-year old underwent an operation on Wednesday evening after tearing the cartilage in his knee and Rovers boss Les Parry says the player will now start a period of rehabilitation.

It's typical bad luck for Rovers, with Jose Baxter having returned to Everton earlier this week, the player who had been filling in for Robinson after a frustrating period of injuries and illness which has led to him making just seven appearances for the club since the end of August.

Robinson joins two other key Rovers players on the sidelines, Enoch Showunmi and Owain fon Williams, who will hopefully both be returning to the Tranmere side at the end of the month once they recover from leg and hand injuries respectively.

On Robinson's injury, Les Parry told the club's Official Website.....

"He's going to be out for four to six weeks, hopefully four but more likely six"

Elsewhere, another issue for the Tranmere manager is his attempts to sign a new striker on loan.  The Rovers boss is continuing his search for a player and went to watch Ryan Donaldson, who played 27-minutes for Tranmere against Wycombe this season before coming off with a hamstring injury, play for Newcastle United reserves on Tuesday and may attempt to resign the player if he has returned to full fitness.

Robbo has had an accident in training and torn his ligament he will be out for 6 weeks. I cant believe this and without trying to sound like a kopite a whine i do think we get rotten luck when it comes down to injurys and suspensions . I think now les must look to some of the youth lads to try and fill the gap left as at least these boys will be hungry and eager to prove !!!!

That`s a real blow strange how these days we seem to get more
injuries in training than we had in years gone by or are we employing more players with a track record of old injuries that crop up all the time or is it the way they train?
Either way it makes the squad smaller just as Baxter gone back we needed Robbo in that spot and with having no money we seem unable to bring any one in unlike another teams who seem to bring in new faces including clubs who have smaller gates than us,pity things seem to be that low on the money front unable to bring faces in unless others go out on top of that a main stand with a roof that leaves when there`s a bit of wind like an extra in the Wizard of Oz.Could be a hard end to the season.
Unlike the start when we looked like we were onwards and upwards(bit like Dorothy and Toto(dog) who ended up in Kansas)were will Les lead the Rover(s)hope fully not into and beyond the trap door into League two.

That is a hammer blow. He is the only player at the club capable of unlocking the door and providing something creative. I thought we would struggle to score with him, now without him its going to be a nightmare.

I am starting to really worry for the rest of the season now, just can't see us scoring any goals at all.

It's a setback for sure but I'm sure we will be OK anyway. Love the headline as well!

Just as we need to send some players out on loan we get a new injury! which would require a player to stay as cover i guess! . Not looking good at all! i hate to say it but i can see a relegation battle coming on and i would give us a good chance of relegation this season. A team that can't score and leaks goals only spells one thing....

I'm with mikey D on this one think it might be time to look at a few players in the youth team and hope that one of them takes their moment. Tbh I'm surprised non of them have squad numbers yet given the injury crisis we have!

Who do you think would be upto the challenge?

Cole Stockton is going to have to come in I feel. I'm not saying it like that because I don't rate him but I didn't expect him to have to be utilised this soon!

Either Stockton, or use Joss Labadie as a makeweight and play Max Power in his place.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Its a massive blow for the team but there are a few options. For starters, why not utilise McGurk in that role, leave Muzzy to hold the ball up and have McGurk push up as a second striker so to speak. He's useless at tackling but, that's what the other midfielders are for and Baxter didn't really do a lot of that anyway. We could also put Devaney in that role. Other option would be to change the system and play 442 with McGurk and Muzzy up top together but we all know that won't happen.

The worst decision he could make is to play Welsh, Weir and Labadie in midfield. He did it before Baxter came and it just didn't work, there was no creativity at all so that for me is a none starter.

I think it will be a case of bringing weir back into the team and lets hope for the best.

I think we will miss Robbo, but I'm really excited about having Devaney back in the team and fit. He has the ability to win games on his own IMO and having him back is like having a new player.

Its fair to say with baxter gone he would have been in the side but we have just got to get by without him.

Ricci again has it spot on. Robbo is the class act we cannot afford to lose. We were going to struggle anyway but now even more. We can't score goals to save our lives which will cost us greatly.
Unsuprisingly we are not going to change our tactics or the way we play as Spongeman has just said so. I say unsuprisingly because he is clueless.
