Everton youngster joins Tranmere on month long loan deal

Article Header - Breaking News

Tranmere Rovers have today signed attacking midfielder James Wallace on a one-month loan deal from Merseyside neighbour's Everton.

Wallace was nearly signed by Tranmere in September as cover for the injured Andy Robinson, but Rovers had to pull the loan deal for the player after he picked up an injury in training.

Rovers boss Les Parry has finally got his man, however, with Wallace signing in time to travel to Bournemouth for Saturday's League One game.

The 20-year old Liverpudlian, who has represented England at U19 and U20 level, has been with Everton since the age of 13, making one appearance for the Toffees in August 2009 in a European game against Sigma Olomouc.

He was sent out on loan last season to gain Football League experience and played once during a month long loan spell at Bury, with all the other games during his spell with the club postponed due to the weather, before he joined Stockport in February, for whom he played 14 times and scored once.

After injury prevented Wallace joining Tranmere earlier this season, he spent time on loan at Shrewsbury, where he impressed players and fans alike, but made only three appearances for the club due to a sending off on his debut and then complications for Shrewsbury when they came to extend the deal.

Wallace also briefly spent time on loan at Stevenage earlier this month, but returned to Everton without playing a game after manager Graham Westley left the club to take over at Preston.

All the signs then pointed towards Prenton Park for Wallace, with the player watching Rovers 0-0 draw against Rochdale on Tuesday before Tweeting "On my way to watch everton reserves at leigh's ground v blackburn rovers! Been pulled out of squad due to a loan move" on Wednesday.

His arrival may result in one of Rovers' midfielders Max Power or Joss Labadie leaving the club on-loan, a positive for Rovers on two fronts, as not only would the players be keeping match fit and getting experience, but also the loan club would take on the players wage.

Wallace is Tranmere's second loan signing of the week after Lateef Elford-Alliyu joined on Monday, whilst he's Rovers' second loan signing from Everton this season after Jose Baxter spent three months at the club betewen September and January.  Rovers' last loan signing from the Toffees before this season was goalkeeper Thomas Mhyre in 2000/01.

A positive signing, however I sincerely hope Les doesn,t send Joss Labadie out on loan....in my opinion he,s getting a raw deal ...he should be in the starting line up every match. He,s quick, great tackler, great shot and can score goals from midfield...what the heck is going on??

Official Site are saying that Taylor may be out on Saturday so that's one midfield option possibly gone anyway (depending on whether you beleive him to be a midfielder or not)!

Could be a good signing along with Lateef earlier this week the down sign both are only for a month what happens after that and also were`s the striker that we need?
I hope also Joss does not go out on loan he should be in at the start in most games, perhaps Max Power or John Courtney to go out on loan. But with the squad being that thin on the ground nobody should go out what we really need is a shirt sponsor deal like Liverpool £100 million(Sm19) over four years(if only).
