Ronnie Post-Match: "They Wanted It More Than Us"

After the dire 2-0 away defeat for Tranmere at struggling Bury on Saturday afternoon, Ronnie Moore was disappointed with his side's performance on the day.......

Tranmere Manager Ronnie Moore was disappointed with the performance of his players after his Rovers side slipped to their first defeat since his return to the Club away at struggling Bury on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking to Tranmere Player after the game, Moore said....

"If you're going to go down you go down with a fight and that was a whimper.  We've said to them that maybe that's the reason they are where they are.  That's the worst I've seen us as a group and if we were playing a better team we could have lost by five."

"We weathered the storm in the first half and how we got in 0-0 I'll never know.  It was always going to be close but to get done by a fifty yard ball into the box and the lad gets a free header…it's soul destroying for the rest of the players.  Our two centre halves haven't been able to cope with Bishop, he has run the show and battered them down the middle. We needed to be strong and we weren't." 

"You can't fault the effort but the discipline and defending wasn't there.  They looked like they wanted it more than us, that was the feeling I got.  At half time I asked where the bunch of lads was who are first to the ball, first to the tackle.  There was no service to the two young kids up front so I couldn't see what they were about."

"The tempo wasn't there, the high tempo that we need.  If we play like that we won't win too many games but that's out of the system now, we can kick on.  The same sort of response in the next games and we're ok.  They know they've let not only me but themselves and the supporters down. We had a good following here who got behind them and backed them."

"No one likes to lose but sometimes it's the way you lose.  We've got to get it right now, we've got a big game on Friday against a big, strong, physical team and if our two centre halves play like that we aren't going to win.  That's the blip and we hope there are no more blips to come."
