Following the departure of John Welsh today, we're asking you who should be the new Tranmere captain
Tranmere captain John Welsh today left the club after three years at Prenton Park, joining Rovers' League One rivals Preston North End on a two-year contract.
Welsh is just one of many influential players who've captained Tranmere down the years, a list that includes names such as Eric Nixon and Ian Goodison, and was appointed to the role by Les Parry midway through his stay at Prenton Park after Ian Thomas-Moore handed in a transfer request.
Following his departure, we'd like to know who you think should replace the 28-year midfielder as Tranmere's captain for the 2012/13 season. The poll can be located on the website home page, underneath the main story, and allows users to vote for seven members of the current squad, out of contract pair David Buchanan and Andy Robinson, or for "Other".

I stated my case. Ash for Captain and fon as Vice. I always think goalkeepers and central defenders are the best choices, because of their ability to potentially seem more of the action.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
Danny H for me ! consumate pro ! excellent attitude on and off the pitch ! experience allways cptn of the youth and on ocasion in the past the ressies, clear to me the man in all ways for the job, if signed will be as he has been ever pressent in the side
Great player over the years has stood out in the back four he is these day`s could be known as Mr Tranmere may make a good club captain (same as when Jim Harvey took the role)but as a team captain on the pitch Mr Cool Ian Goodison to me would not cut it does not shout a lot does command his back line of four but just can not see him as the ideal captain on the pitch talking to the ref.
Who may be the man Robbo could be to hot headed full of passion
but may red cardedeven when talking to the ref perhaps Ash Taylor may fit into role but Ronnie may have some one he is planning to sign on fit for purpose,we all await for August the 18th.
Maybe if RM is after a quality midfielder who could go elsewhere for more money, offering him the armband here may persuade him to choose us over someone else, though.
