Former Leeds player signs new one-year contract with Prenton Park club

Article Header - Breaking News

Tranmere Rovers' influential playmaker Andy Robinson has today signed a new one-year contract with the club, extending his stay until June 2013.  The deal also has a one-year option attached to it, meaning Rovers can extend Robinson's stay at the club until the end of the 2013/14 season if they wish.

Having initially been released in 2003, Robinson re-joined Tranmere on loan from Leeds United at the end of the 2009/10, having had a hugely successful spell at Swansea City between 2003-2008  After scoring a crucial goal for Les Parry's Tranmere against Millwall at the rear end of the 2009/10 season, Robinson rejoined Leeds before signing permanently for Tranmere on a free transfer in January 2011.

Robinson Andy (Tranmere)

Robinson signed a one-year contract extension last summer and went on to a play a key role for the club.  Despite playing just 28 games last season because of injury, the left-winger, who played in a central midfield position under Les Parry, scored four goals and was often the orchestrator of Tranmere attacks, becoming an increasingly influential player.

The Wirral born player will be hoping to continue his form next season and has so far made 49 appearances for Tranmere, of whom he is a lifelong fan, scoring five goals.

Robinson is the third player to sign a new contract with the club this summer, following the lead of defenders Ash Taylor and Ian Goodison, whilst a fourth player, John Welsh, joined Preston North End.

Left-back David Buchanan, the 2011/12 Player of the Year, is now the only player Tranmere are waiting on to accept a new contract with the club.

thumbs downGood news as long as he can keep fit, no reason that he can not play 35+ league games if he retains that fitness(Sm46)(Sm48)now for David Buchanan to be signed in by Ronnie.
