Ben Burgess joins on two-year deal
Tranmere Rovers have today confirmed the signing of centre-forward Ben Burgess on a two-year deal. Burgess becomes Rovers' first signing of the summer and joins on a free transfer.
Burgess, Ronnie Moore's first permanent signing since his return to the club, will join the club on July 1st following the expiration of his contract at Notts County and joins Adam McGurk and Cole Stockton as Tranmere's only professional strikers at the club.
30-year old Burgess started his career with Blackburn Rovers, where he rose through the ranks as a youth trainee but made only a handful of appearances for the Ewood Park club. Following a loan spell with Brentford, BUrgess moved to Stockport for £400,000 in 2002, before moving on again in 2003 for £100,000 to Hull City.
Whilst with the Tigers, Burgess was part of the side that rose from League Two to the Championship, pipping Tranmere to second place in League One in 2004/05, before his three year stay with the club came to an end in 2006 to Blackpool, where he would enjoy another promotion during a four year stint.
Blackpool and Hull were the clubs with whom Burgess was most prolific, netting 54 goals over seven years with the two clubs before joining Notts County on a free transfer in 2010 following Blackpool's promotion to the Premier League.
Since joining the Magpies, Burgess had a successful 18-months before finding himself out of favour when Keith Curle took over as manager in March, upon which he joined Cheltenham Town on loan and helped them reach the play-off final, where they were defeated by Crewe Alexandra.
Irish born Burgess, who stands at 6 foot 3 inches tall, is described as a target man by Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore and has scored 86 goals from 361 appearances during his 14-year career.

We now need a striker to play alongside him to feed off Burgess!
A winger to feed them both and a decent midfielder(s) to set the play up!

The future looking good.
He has had a decent track record at some of his previous clubs and also it's about how the guy sets up not just scores, which I'm sure in relation to setting up he does quite a bit and he's got plenty of experience and should be good.
I'm only really concerned about what he does for Tranmere what he might or might not have done in the past.
I just hope people don't look at that head banadage picture and start complaining about Ronnie signing players with inujuries problems
