Mooney Secures One-Year Deal

Ronnie Moore lands giant 'keeper
Tranmere Rovers have today completed the signing of Northern Irish goalkeeper Jason Mooney on a free transfer, with the 23-year old putting pen to paper on a one-year deal following his release by Wycombe Wanderers.
Mooney has impressed Rovers boss Ronnie Moore having spent pre-season with the club and played the full 90-minutes against Cammell Laird and Heswall in friendlies on Monday and Tuesday, keeping clean sheets in both games.
The 6'9 shot stopper only joined Wycombe after impressing the club during a two-month trial period. He however spent the entire season out on loan with Oxford City, where he played an integral role as the club won promotion from the Southern League Premier Division, winning the club's player of the year award along the way as they conceded the fewest number of goal in the division.
Previous to playing for Wycombe, Mooney had represented the likes of Ards, Bangor, Ards Rangers and Comber Rec in his native Northern Ireland, playing semi-professionally for the four clubs.
In two pre-season friendlies for Tranmere, goalkeeper Mooney, who will be Tranmere's number two choice behind Owain fon Williams, has already displayed some of his playing characteristics, proving to be a vocal 'keeper who's not scared to shout instructions at his defenders.
Mooney's arrival continues the strong Northern Irish presence that Tranmere currently have in their squad, with centre-back Mark McChrystal and winger Adam McGurk also from the country.
