Lucas Akins departs to Rovers’ League One rivals for an undisclosed fee, confirming recent rumours about the Hertfordshire Club’s interest in him……….

Tranmere attacking player Lucas Akins has today signed for League One rivals Stevenage, confirming the validity of recent rumours about their interest in the Rovers winger.

Akins signed for Rovers under Les Parry in the summer of 2010 initially as a striker although he soon became utilised as a right winger where he always seemed more effective and gradually won some (but not all) critics over.

Akins Lucas

The 23 year old signed for Rovers from Hamilton in Scotland but had begun his career as a trainee at Huddersfield Town.  During his Rovers career he made 59 starts and 18 substitute appearances in the League, scoring seven times in the process including a brace away at Hartlepool last season as Rovers triumphed at Victoria Park.

Total Tranmere would like to wish Lucas all the best in his future career and thank him for his time at Rovers.

Good Riddance, if you don't want to play for us, then do one!

Sulky and unprofessional.

Wonder what he'll do if a Championship club shows interest next season??

Where has it been said he didn't want to play for us?

Great bit of business by Tranmere but sorry to see him leave too.

Let me see??

Stalled on signing last closed season, and handed in a written transfer request??? Hardly going to win the fans over with that sort of behaviour???

It`s true he has gone but whether you liked him or not for his prospective he`s most likely now on more money than what he was on with Tranmere add to that a three year deal so I would not blame him from moving on,any one who works what ever job would move on for more money. After all players who play at league one level are not on top tier money were after three years of picking up £150,000 plus a week could pack up for life.

He was happy enough to sign for us when nobody else came in for him and would porbably ended up in non league football.

Anyway hes gone now and for all the effort he put in he really didnt have much quality, hopefully Thompson will be a better player.

Good luck to Lucas. Decent player I thought, gave his all. Not the best technically but I thought made the most of what ability he had.

However in some peoples eyes, the same could be said of many Heswall players, but to the same people, neither Heswall players or Akins should be Tranmere players.

I thought he got better, but wanting to leave and faffing with the contract last year, made me realise he's not dynamic and worht 3x what he was paid, so take the fee and have done.

Hopefully it works out for him and he should be respected for coming and giving as much as he could.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
