Goalkeeper picked for international duty

Tranmere Rovers' first choice goalkeeper Owain fon Williams has been called up to the Wales squad for their international against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday 15th August at Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli.

Fon Williams, who represented his country at U17, U19 and U21 level, is yet to win a cap for the Wales senior side.  He has, however, been called up to the squad before, most recently for their game against Mexico in New Jersey at the end of the 2011/12 season.

The 25-year old, who made 40 appearances and kept 16 clean sheets in his debut season for Tranmere last year, is one of three goalkeepers in Chris Coleman's Wales squad, joining Jason Brown of Aberdeen and Boaz Myhill of West Bromwich Albion.

With Rovers travelling to the B2Net Stadium to take on Chesterfield on Tuesday 14th for their first game of the season, the day before the Wales game, fon Williams will be unavailable for selection, meaning new signing Jason Mooney is set to make his debut in goal.

Jake Cassidy and Ashton Taylor will also miss the game through international duty due to their involvement with the Wales U21 team, whilst Adam McGurk and Paul Black are both injured for the fixture.
