Rovers Manager Ronnie Moore was delighted with his side's 3-1 home win over Leyton Orient in the opening League One game of the season but was disappointed that his side fell three minutes short of keeping a clean sheet........
Tranmere Manager Ronnie Moore was delighted with his side's 3-1 home win over Leyton Orient in the opening League One game of the season thanks to Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro and a rare and surprising goal from Zoumana Bakayogo but was left to rue a late Orient penalty that cost Rovers a clean sheet.
Speaking to Tranmere Player, Moore said....
"I was disappointed we conceded the goal. I don't think it was a penalty in a month of Sundays. But we've got to be pleased and it's totally deserved."
"They threw everything in the box and we dealt with most of it, and there were some nice goals from us. It was a striker's finish from Zoum and a great run to get in there. We've got pace in the side now. We can counter attack teams."
"I was pleased that he finished it because he has been in a couple of times and not really finished. It took the pressure off. We didn't start the second half well but once the second goal went in... It was a great bit of football (for the third goal), a great ball in and a good header."
"It's a great start, you couldn't ask for anything more. But we don't get a week's rest, we go again on Tuesday. We've got one or two who have picked up knocks so we've got to be careful. We're fit enough, we're as fit as anybody at this level and we'll give anybody a game at this level."
