Port Vale v Tranmere Rovers Match Discussion
By Deadly Submarine
September 3 2012
If you can't make Tranmere's game at home to Port Vale in the Johnstones Paint Trophy on Tuesday evening, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend......
For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the more costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.
Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game as well as a half-time report on how the game is going for the benefit of those who are unable to make it.
Tranmere of course, travel to Port Vale on Tuesday evening in the Johnstones Paint Trophy, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.
Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game on this thread where possible whilst there will also be our usual update service from our Twitter feed @totaltranmere so if you are not already following us it may be worth doing so!
If you do not already have an account Click here to Register.

Bakayogo

Power
Harrison
Kirby
Stockton
Akpa Akpro
If not Kirby in then maybe he'll swap the keepers and give Mooney a game and keep Bell-Baggie in.
There are other possibilities too of course such as the fact that Cassidy isn't available on Saturday either so therefore he may play Cassidy and then either rest Akpro and play Stockton or play Akpro and save Cole for Saturday.

the resting of key players is important at this early stage of the season.
however, it could disrupt the momentum, tough one for Ronnie!

I make that only four.
Also, not being able to send out and test out young upcoming players. No wonder the England team do so badly... the next generation aren't allowed to play in the smaller cup competitions.
We got beat... and you know what, i'm glad. Priority HAS to be the league. Fair enough, cup runs bring in extra money, but we are hardly gonna bring in bumper gates with ties against the likes of Morecombe Rochdale and Carlisle are we?
I also suspect some of them wouldn't have necessarily been up for it. Harrison has barely been seen in dispatches and the way the team is playing right now, would Ronnie suddenly feel the need to try a guy like that in the league team?
He might if Tranmere only had less than 4 points and presumed one or two players might be costing him, then a player like Harrison would want to impress more, sensing change in the air, but in one of the most meaningless cup games, in comparison to the League Cup and the FA Cup, where is the motiviation necessarily for some players, when the teams league form would make most first team players look untouchable?
I'm not bothered about this, because the way the league form is, Ronnie could pick pretty much his best team and beat Crewe, who beat an out of sorts Coverntry, then beat an out of sorts Coventry and possibly get 16 out of his first 18 points which would be a stonking start ot the season.
Blackpool went out of the league cup to Morecambe but are still solid starters in their league, so it happens that form teams can banana skin and Ronnie must just say fag it and get on with the bread and butter of the league and so should the players, there's bigger and better results to come anyway.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Think this result shows how much we miss robinson & wallace
Spot on Bigmart! Tonight showed just how poor our squad is in terms of depth. Yes we have quality in the starting side but after that there is little.
What disgusted me most tonight was the players just didn't seem interested in even pushing for a first team place and they don't deserve one.
All these fans saying we can concentrate on the League now are gonna rue the fact we're out of this IF come Christmas our form has dipped badly (which it will if we lose Wallace or Robbo for any period of time).
Hopefully we won't lose either of them (or others) and the run will be continued for a long time but to hear people say they are pleased we've gone out of anything disgusts me.
One player in particular (no names mentioned) is an absolute disgrace in terms of attitude and performance.

Obviously not all these reserves will play together at once (barring a major injury crisis) and to be fair if you put Wallace and Robinson back in that team (or even just one) it would have made a difference.
Port Vale fans seem to believe that they beat our full strength team and whilst they looked alright they certainly weren't brilliant. Our poor showing made them look that way.
Anyway it's gone now and on to Saturday and back to almost full strength!!!
Plus we don't yet know exactly how solid Black will be, as Bakyogo has got off to a flyer this season.
