Tranmere Rovers v Brentford Match Discussion
By Deadly Submarine
September 28 2012
If you can't make Tranmere's game at home to Brentford on Saturday afternoon, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend......
For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the more costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.
Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game as well as a half-time report on how the game is going for the benefit of those who are unable to make it.
Tranmere of course, host Brentford on Saturday afternoon in NPower League One so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.
Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game on this thread where possible whilst there will also be our usual update service from our Twitter feed @totaltranmere so if you are not already following us it may be worth doing so!

However win tomorrow and they could and I think Tranmere can win, assuming Shaleum Logan doesn't decide to have a little nibble at Cass or Akpro and put them on the physios bench
He wasn't always the most well disciplined player Tranmere had that season.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
8.44am train awaits me and really up for it.......
The goal from JLAA was pure brilliance and he was a real threat whenever he got the ball in a wide position. It seems that the less dangerous his position is when he gets the ball the more likely is that he'll threaten the opposition defence.
Definitely don't agree with the above comment on Thompson. While I wouldn't say he put in a great performance he had to put in a defensive shift today and did that well.
To me the main negatives were Ash's passing (again) and the fact that a few key players looked off their games for long stretches today. In the case of Ash's passing it's something that everyone knows about so I don't know why we insisted on giving him the ball time after time (does he zing 60 yard precision passes around in training?). Again though, nothing wrong with his actual devending. With regards to performance levels dropping, that's 13 games already this season with a more or less unchanged side so maybe we have to start looking at changing things up a bit.
All in all though a creditable, if ultimately heart-breaking draw.
I say that because the way we played today, a decent side in our League would have punished and beaten us Brentford didn't seem capable of taking advantage until we gifted them the late goal by switching off.
Apparently Rosler has said that they gifted us a goal but theirs was certainly one.
Also it's gutting that Douglas scored as I felt another, stronger referee would have sent him off ten minutes earlier for the challenge on Thompson for which he got only a yellow card.
Still as we were at the top with Stevenage and Notts County drawing too so into Scunthorpe to get back to winning ways. I'm not too disheartened tonight.

I don't think that's a valid assumption. Just like Coventry, Brentford packed their midfield and forced us into errors but that meant that they only had two guys isolated up front. If they'd had more bodies in attack they wouldn't have forced us into giving the ball away as much. No team in this division is good in all areas!
I did however think Zoum was absolutely superb (does he ever lose a header?) whilst Gibson was again a rock at the back. Fonners had a solid game too; a terrific save keeping it at 0-0 in the first half and did well coming for crosses too.
We are still three points clear at the top of the league which is great, though it'll be interesting to see how we react to conceding such a late goal on Tuesday. We haven't really suffered a blow like that in the league yet.
Scunthorpe can be a bit of a bogie team for us, but with our strike force we can definitely beat them. Hopefully Wallace will be fit.

I thought Brentford were very clever and got their tactics spot on in the first half. Whenever Wallace or Robbo got anywhere near the ball, they had two or three players on them and nullified the threat. The 451 they played was extremely effective and we just couldn't get anything going. What we needed to do was get it wide more, but we didn't and for me it was the perfect game for Bell Baggie as Thomson just doesn't seem to want to take players on.
For me the game changed when they made their substitution, went from a 451 to a 442 and suddenly we got the room we desperately needed in the middle and started to control the game. It was no coincidence that we scored soon after and it looked like we would go on and win the game. We needed a second which didn't come, had it then so would the three points. The defending was awful for their goal, it was like the old Tranmere rearing it's ugly head and we need to work hard on defending in training.
What I would take from todays game is for Ronnie to learn and try and come up with a solution to get round teams packing out the midfield and stopping our key players. I think teams will look at their performance today and see it as the only way to get anything out of us which is a worry if we can';t figure a way round it.
Draw was probably fair result but you dont wanna say or hear that....
My main thots.....I thot Robbo was superb, My team Falkirk are going thro this fancy formation ala Barcelona of 4-2-3-1 and of such but I have shouted Ronnie Moores 4-4-2.....Im not a great believer on lower competitions being won on fancy dan formations but heyho, tis refreshing to see its not caught on. Robbo tho does seem to have a license to wander, Im guessing that its why he has come up trumps in scoring. He also seems to be enjoying his game and also looking fitter than I have seen him previously.
Cassidy also is a lot taller than I thot he was, doesnt really cut it in the air tho but on today, it looks like a full season at Tranmere will do him the world of good, dont think he is quite ready for step up, a season here would probably build him up for starting slot next season
Gibson was outstanding, different aspect with defenders and on todays showing Gibson is ready but again I hope a season long loan would benefit us and the player long term.....
Ive watched Williams make many a great save via tv but his save in first half was outstanding and over these couple of seasons he has proved he is up there with some of the Tranmere greats between the sticks
Wallace was poor today, too many bad passes tho never hid, Zoom was superb, he seems the kinda player if you had 10 of him.....feck it 11 then you would be there or thereabouts come May, allround natural....
I fairly enjoyed today, my own team Falkirk are going thro somewhat bad period with a stubborn defensive approach, we have a top 3 budger in our league.....Tranmere Im guessing have a lower 10 budget, which shows a manager can make best with what he's got
Anyway Im wittering on, had great day out, 3pts wouldve made it a little sweeter but its great to be back to my English home an looking to see when I can do either an away or home trip......
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
