Bournemouth v Tranmere Rovers Match Discussion

By Deadly Submarine

If you can't make Tranmere's game away at Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend......

For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the more costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.

The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.

Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game as well as a half-time report on how the game is going for the benefit of those who are unable to make it.

Stadium - Bournemouth

Tranmere of course, make the trip to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon in NPower League One so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?

Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.

You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game on this thread where possible whilst there will also be our usual update service from our Twitter feed @totaltranmere so if you are not already following us it may be worth doing so!

The run had to end sumwhere although disappointing after taking the lease, a bit of a worry weve now conceded 5 in 2 games.

Tqo home games now to try to bounce back and how we do this will be key to how our season is likely to pan out.

Disappointed in the result, but winning £185 on a free accumulator bet has softened the blow (Sm146)

It had to end somewhere, and in a way i'm glad it has. Not that i'm happy we lost, but i feel going so far unbeaten added pressure. Also, it will shock the lads into action, letting them know they cant just turn up!

The monkey is now off our back, there wont be soooo many eyes on us, so we can now hopefully go on another run of 6-8 games unbeaten. If we can do that, then we should comfortably have a 10 or 12 point lead going into Christmas.

The big worry is the inuries mounting up, both bell-baggie & jervis are now injured though unsure how bad.

The real test will be how the team react on Tuesday.Hopefully RM will use his skills to tell them that a defeat was always going to occur.Get back into winning ways
against Doncaster and then thrash those perennial over spending under achievers on Saturday.

Just got back....

Disgusting performance by everyone except Jake Cassidy. I know the run was always going to end to somewhere but to lose in such an effortless manner was a disgrace.

Bournemouth will think they did a job on us but we just didn't turn up and they barely had to try.

Wallace had his worst game in a Rovers shirt, Palmer was poor, Bell-Baggie had a shocker and as for McGurk he was an absolute waste of space. The new striker scored but did very little else.

Admittedly all three Bournemouth goals should not have happened (two free kicks that never should have been and a handball in the build up to the second) but we still have to defend even with biased refereeing and we didn't.

Just shows how well we have been doing that we are a scalp for teams at the moment and Bournemouth treated today like winning a cup final!

Touch harsh there - Bell-Baggie ran himself into the ground and was getting clothes lined left right and centre by half of their team. Wallace worked hard but didn't get the rub of the green with any 50/50 balls.
Frankly, and this is going to sound like a sob story but the referee's middle name was J and his surname Simpson.
Absolute joke and how Bournemouth kept 11 players on the pitch is totally beyond me.
Onwards and upwards.

A Bournemouth fan on their forum has admitted that at least two of their goals shouldn't have stood as well.

On the Up the Cherries website, there are quite a few having a go at Ronnie Moore for his after match criticism of the ref.

I don't think we deserved to win, but to say their first and third goals were questionable is an understatement. The first was a superb tackle for which the referee gave the free kick and the third was a clear and blatant dive.

Our performance on the day though was poor. The defenders really struggled to cope with Pugh down the left who constantly outpaced Ash, whilst Gibson had a poor game, barely winning anything in the air.

Most disappointing though was the lack of protection the referee gave Bell-Baggie. Every time he ran at them, they just tried to kick two lumps out of him. It's no surprise that he got injured in the end and I think it knocked confidence out of him to have a go.

I liked the look of Jervis. He ran and chased hard despite little service in the first half, took his goal really well after terrific work from Cassidy and could have had a second.

It baffles me that he didn't come off at half-time however. He clearly got injured and Ronnie persisted in playing him when it would probably have been better to throw Stockton on.

The midfield was the biggest disappointment though. Wallace at times looked as if he was trying to do it all himself and it just wasn't working. His passing kept going astray and he kept getting dragged out of position.

Palmer worked hard and got himself from box to box quickly as usual and I didn't think he was too bad, but he was the best of a poor four.

I just wonder if a defeat could be a good thing in the long run. We've got a lot of young lads, and this could just teach them that they've not invincible and bring them back down to earth again.

It was disappointing to lose in such manner, but we were always going to taste defeat in the league at some point. Now hopefully we can pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and take the game to Doncaster on Tuesday.

Honestly boys, you were miles away from all the incidents leading to the AFCB goals. The first was a foul, the foul for the third was clear but unnecessary (Josh was was looking for the foul & your defender obliged. I thought the second was probably hand ball when Harry controlled it but it didn't look like it on the BBC. No worries anyway as Grabban was poleaxed in the area & you got away with it.

As for Bell-Baggie, he needs to learn to play with studs in his boots as that might help him to stay upright.

The reason the crowd enjoyed the win was we, at last, put together a half decent performance coinciding with the return of a fvourite son>

One bad game collectively in 13 and the venom returns......
"A disgusting performance"says Deadly. Are we not allowed one day when everyone is off the mark?

Personally I blame Danny Harrison ...after all he was on the bench....

Ronnie out ..........

It's a reality check, but it could help to keep the team grounded, so that's a good thing, because the more you do well, the more some players might be tempted to get a bit cocky about it.

I am sure they can bounce back and they will and I think 4 points from the next 2, is a good possibility.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
