Tranmere have today secured the signing of striker Nathan Eccleston from Blackpool on a month long loan deal......
Tranmere have today confirmed the signing on loan of Blackpool striker Nathan Eccleston to cover for the injury to striker Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro and his loan replacement Jake Jervis.
The 21-year old joins Rovers for a month long period from the Championship club and will be available for Saturday’s home game against Blackpool's bitter rivals Preston North End.
Eccleston originally came through Liverpool’s Academy and made appearances for the club in the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League. He also spent time on loan at Huddersfield Town and Charlton Athletic before joining Blackpool in August.
Eccleston has been given permission by his parent club to play in the FA Cup for Tranmere in their first round tie against Braintree Town a week on Sunday.
Speaking of the signing of Eccleston, Rovers manager Ronnie Moore said....
“I’m really pleased to be able to bring in a player of Nathan’s quality – there were quite a few League 1 clubs interested in signing him. He’s quick and strong and can score goals and he’ll be a good addition to our squad.
With Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro and Jake Jervis both out injured Nathan will give us a bit more pace in attack. I’m grateful to Ian Holloway and Blackpool for letting him come to us.”

I think it'll depend on whether Robinson plays or not, if he doesn't i'd say McGurk will drop into his position and Eccleston will come in up front.
I could almost see him playing the same team as he did for Doncaster and taking Robinson off after 45mins and putting Eccleston on. Give the players from Tuesday night a chance to score after all the chances they created but didn't put away.
No chance. He'll 100% start, up front i expect too. Robbo an baggie on wings. Then usual across pitch tho id hope the defence have been given a final warning to cut out switching off!! Black an goodison must be desperate to get back in.
He'll start 100%. Most likely up front too. Robbie an Baggie aslong as they are injury free. MCGURK on bench. Same team elsewhere. Though black an goodo will feel unlucky to not get a shout yet as the defence keep switching off. Holmes is lucky most the cover is left sided.
I was thinking dont bother with mcgurk in general was very good vs Yeovil but against donny his touch and crossing was out. Also could start black if robbo is injured and stick zoom down the left wing. Would really hope ecclestone starts over him
I don't rate McGurk at all. think he's a usefyl player to bring off bench and that's it for me. he's quite a big lad but needs to put himself about a bit more, ideally without getting injured! great delivery from set pieces to be fair though but would have him as back-up. I think it's a notice of our intent that we have clearly strecthed the budget to bring in another loan player rather than just making do so fair play to Johnson, he clearly wants us to stay up there. I heard he was paying £10k a week in bonuses!!
It is not rocket science to see that if we get back on track 7000+ gates are possible. If we slip back sub 5000 is a more likely outcome. it would be folly not to lay out a little to secure the better scenario.
IF we can remain near the top PJ is also more likely to find a potentail backer
Goodison gets goals sometimes, so one the one hand he giveth and on the other still giveth.
You can't really complain about that. 6 goals in one season shows Ronnie perhaps could have forgotten about Ecclestone's loan and given Goodison the nod today
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
Having seen Eccleston today It may have been better to have given Stockton a start from the start. Moore must not think much of him in continuing to obtain loan players instead of giving the lad a chance. He will not gain confidence or improve by having him sit on the bench every week.
I Think Ash does possess a bit more pace than Goodie.
