Hartlepool Utd v Tranmere Rovers Match Discussion

By Deadly Submarine

If you can't make Tranmere's game away at Hartlepool Utd on Tuesday evening, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend......

For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the more costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.

The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.

Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game as well as a half-time report on how the game is going for the benefit of those who are unable to make it.

Stadium - Hartlepool Utd

Tranmere of course, make the trip to Hartlepool United on Tuesday evening in NPower League One so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?

Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.

You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game on this thread where possible whilst there will also be our usual update service from our Twitter feed @totaltranmere so if you are not already following us it may be worth doing so!

Top scorers in Div 1 against bottom team,no manager and conceding 6 goals in last match to a Div 2 side in cup......
.....predict 0 - 0

These are the games that Rovers lose.
An expected win, bookies favourites, etc,

A point will do to put us back on top.

1-1.

SWA.

Just want to see us keep a clean sheet. We've dropped back to the pack because we've started letting too many goals in. Fine when your scoring goals for fun, but we're not at the moment. We will score enough goals and win games if we don't make silly mistakes at the back.

I feel if we can get points off sheff utd and match them for results we will be up there and about at end of season. As for tonight IMO either a 1-1 or 2-1 to pool.

I agree Doogie. Let's get back to keeping clean sheets and the bedrock to then build on. A win tonight and we are top again, simple as that, great opportunity against a poor team, lets go for it boys then we will roar you on at Oldham on Sat. Can see there being about 1500-2000 TRFC fans for that one, be like a home game!

best form of defence has allways been attack, think tonight we'll have the personel to do that again.

Let's put this result into perspective.
We played on current form (last 8 games) the worst team in the division with a record of 2 points from a possible 24 points.
We failed to score until the 79th minute when it took a penalty to calm our nerves in-front of goal. Then we got a second in the dying seconds.
I was 100% confident we'd win this one and for some fans to be talking about drawing this game, pretty much shows our psychological state at the moment - fragile.
Having said that the win was very very welcome and gives us a platform to build from. Also I think the Oldham game comes at a good time for us to build confidence after our blip.

A Tranmere Rovers team that's playing on a cold, windy, Wednesday night against the bottom club and that's "mentally fragile" loses 4 - 0 without managing a single shot on target and has a man sent off. Anyone that doesn't know that has only been a fan since May. In contrast that game could have lasted 5 hours and Hartlepool still wouldn't have scored. Any team that's committed and comes out with a point to prove can defend effectively for 90 minutes. The fact that we pressed and pressed for the last 30 minutes AND kept pressing after we'd scored is a sign of mental strength that we haven't seen for years.
