Could be tough tomorrow.Possibly a revised line up that has not played together.
Stevenage are a bit Jekyll and Hyde but still near the top.
Looking at a draw as a decent result.1-1 or 2-2

I fear that we could be facing a defeat.The side has lost the balance of 4 or 5 weeks ago.At that time we played with width,justified by pace down the flanks.Robbo,for all his qualities does not provide that and we are missing Bell-Baggie.
I do not blame harrison for our recent dip but he offers neither mobility or creativity and in recent game the midfield has not been impressive.

I just hope that we can hang in scatching out points until AA and BB are fit. We still,however face the prospect that as they return Gibson and Cassidy could go.

We were playing Stevenage at the right time they had lost 2 of the their last 3 games 4-1 and were lucky to get a draw at Bournemouth on Tuesday, so their confidence was clearly shot.
Added to that our impressive away record, 3 points was there for the taking and that's how it turned out, if only Goody's header had gone the other side of the post.........

I must admit, a point before the game would have been a good result, but to take the lead and to let it go so late on is unprofesional and dissapointing,, But lets not hammer the lads to much the were good today and our bench is looking stronger. so things are looking up and we got a good point to go with it, and with shef u losing it seems to soften the blow of losing the other two points soo late on. but exellent effort lads and if you play like today untill end of season we should be ok

Another missed opportunity to open up a gap at the top, wouldve been 5 clear of 2nd and 9 clear of 7th.

We need to find our scoring touch again if we are to remain in contention for a longer period.

Listened to the game, sounded like we deserved a win. Soooo annoying yet another injury time goal against!. Everyone seems to be catching up with us, now only 5 points between us and 7th!.

Would of taken 1-1 before the game started though, so a good effort. And it sounded like Mcgurk had a good game. So hes trying to prove himself with is the right attitude.

We have opened a gap, from 2 to 3 points.

We have a little habit of conceding late goals this season and I really hope it doesn't come back to cost us come May - from my reckoning, we've dropped at least five in injury time; against Brentford, Doncaster and now Stevenage

and mk dons scored just before stoppage time.

Sounds like 1-1 was the fair result, after all they did hit the post just before equalising.
Saying that it's also very disappointing to concede in the 92nd minute but sounds like it was a good performance.
It will be interesting to see their equaliser on the Football league Show tonight because Derek Jones said it deflected and looped over Fonners whilst the Stevenage website said it was an exquisite chip in the top far corner!
I will be even more gutted if it was a deflection.

Like i said, its highly unprofesional. the teams that stay top of the league from start to finish dont throw leads away or even draws away in last few mins, thats what makes me think we going to start sliping down table soon. hope am wrong but we will deff slip down table if we dont start seeing out games

Keep the faith Neal, mark my words we will be +50pts before year end, ie safe from relegation.
Next target will be 70pts by March..........

A bit hard to take, but a draw and a bigger gap above 2nd, so not too bad.

Still only 2 goals conceded in the last 6 games and when you still have that kind of defensive potential, there is plenty of hope.

The best away performance (certainly over 90 minutes) that I've seen this season and some brilliant spells of football from Rovers.

Yes it was disappointing to concede when we did and we dominated the game throughout but for me it's a sign we're back on track perhaps.

They may have hit the post in the closing minutes but would say they didn't deserve the draw and that it was robbery of a cruel kind.

On to the Cup next week now lots of positives from today. Man of the Match was Zoum closely followed by McGurk. The new striker was barely in the game but he probably needs another game to settle in.

Didn't go today but IMO it would be hard to beat our performance at Notts County.

I'd say that we created less chances today but football wise I thought we were excellent.

Where or how did you listen to the game Tranmerefan was it on the radio? If so what station please?

Via the Tranmere player on the Website. You have to pay a monthly fee £3.99 i think it is. You can listen to every game and watch the goals the next morning. Just cancel it every close season to save a few quid!

The good news is we're still top. Brilliant achievement after 20 games and the manager deserves a lot of credit.

The bad news is that the season doesn't end at Xmas and the dip in form has gone from concerning to alarming. These are the facts:
1. We're 17th in the form guide over the last 8 games, with only 9 points picked up.
2. If everyone's form is replicated over the next 8 games we will be 6th in 8 games time. Behind Doncaster, Brent, Mk, Sheff u & Bury.
3. In the next 6 games we're playing 3 promo rivals in Sheff U, Bury & Swindon.

Not trying to say I told you so. But my admittedly cold hearted comments about replacing Ronnie a couple of months back probably don't seem so stupid now.

sorry you're right about bury, my mistake.

You're absolutely right Eric, it's panic time. We're only 3 points clear at the top now so we are clearly under-achieving given the huge investment in the squad at the beginning of the season and our massive fan base. To not have promotion in the bag by now is frankly a disgrace. Does anybody want to maybe start a "Ronnie out" petition?

We have got Portsmouth next at home which is a must win, then we've got Sheff Utd away (don't rate them) - should get a result there.
Swindle will be our toughest away game so far this season but they have been very inconsistent, so let's hope we catch them on a bad day.

I hope that we reach 50 points soon and at home. I think that it would really give the players a lift, and the fans a sense of perspective, if we spent the whole match chanting "We are staying up" in late December / early January!

Yes Eric, the Ronnie out stuff sounded stupid, to paraphrase you and still does now.

In that respect then, the owner of Coventry should resign for getting a manager in, who doesn't appear to have gained a massive leap in form and having a big club that fell out of the championship.

Maybe he should go for allowing Andy Thorne to remain in charge and effectively help relegate the team.

Has there been any indication publicly that many people want him to leave? Not that I'm aware of.

He has a team with expensive players not doing too well and a manager costing more than Ronnie that's for sure, but they are floundering to some extent.

Ronnie has limited resources and a chairman, a fair proportion of followers aren't overly impressed with after years, who Ronnie could have completely wanted nothing to do with, but chose to approach for the job, even after being sacked by said chairman before, but still even in unpredictable circumstances, with a supposed supporter club takeover becoming inconclusive and niggles about related property sales, he galvanises a budget team, including loanees and raw, newly contracted ex-youth and gets top spot nearly half way through a season; not after 1-2 games but 20 and is achieving more than other teams, with lots of fans and cash rich bank balances.

So how can you think you saying Ronnie should go, is any less ludicrous with the passing of time and the team continuing to be top?

Most people would settle for 6th in May and even if that happens after being top for so long, it would represent promotion potential and people would be more than happy, given that Tranmere have had very few playoff chances, since the ended up in league 1.

I think your viewpoint is off the wall and I doubt even 0.1% of Tranmere followers would agree with it.

I was right. I feared we'd go on a bad run at a specific point in the season and we did. Simple. Live with it.
Ronnie's done well, end of, I agree.
All I'm saying is he has done what he's best at, but he doesn't do well under pressure and if the chairman is ruthless we'd get someone else in to take us to the next level.
Saying nothing wrong or crazy....just something unpalatable to decent people who feel that speaking that way about a guy who's turned the club round is disrespectful. I understand your sentiments. However I believe that the club has an opportunity to go up this year and with a sensible appointment we can do it. This won't happen under Ronnie.
Having said that I'd love us to go up under Ronnie, he deserves it. But I just can't see it.

Is it Ronnie to blame or squad size and injuries?? Sacking the manager now would cost... As would replacing him with a higher paid man. This would mean less money to put out for loans or possible January transfer activity. Leaving us with the small squad and injuries we have already.
Whilst I respect your opinions, bannederic, feasibly. For a club our size and stature, this can't and won't happen. In Ronnie we trust, and in Ronnie were contracted.... He's more than capable of getting us in the top six come may,
In the meantime, were still top of the league and should we get through sheff utd and Swindon without losing too much ground, we have a decent run of games where we can get our heads down and get at them.... Teams in the lower half of the league.
Just remember, were three points clear at the top, not three points clear of relegation. There's 23 teams in our league who given the chance, would swap places with us.
I can see a good win on Saturday and the confidence back in the team.... Out of interest, when is bell-baggie back?

This is Rovers FFS. Be ever so thankful for what Ronnie and the lads have achieved, so far.

Our budget and our yearly losses should mean struggling, in the division below us, rather than the one we are in!

We should be giving standing ovations to Ronnie and the lads, everytime they play wether we win draw or lose, whilst, we have a chance of getting anywhere near the play-offs or promotion.

We have a great chance this season, we don't need the boo-boys!!

Eric, the chairman was "ruthless" when he sacked Ronnie and trusted in "Dumb and Dumber" to take us to the next level. Given more time they would have done - to Div 2! Les saved us from relegation but should have stepped aside to allow an experienced manager in. As a result we lost a charismatic and respected physio. Ronnie has done a lot more than steadying a sinking ship he has taken us to the top of the league! With little money he is outgunning all the bigshots and given the supporters hope and expectation, something we haven't had for years. Stuff the 12 they have announced, Ronnie for Sports Personality of the Year! A little ambitious perhaps but I'm still living the miracle of being top of the league!

Eric, get a grip on reality you are talking rubbish. Ronnie has done a great job in stopping us from going down and now got us at the top of the league.

If Peter Johnson was ruthless and got rid of Ronnie, it would potentially be the final nail in his reputation. From almost absolute hero to absolute zero in 20+ years.

I think Ronnie will not only promote the club, but find the necessary value for money signings, coupled with existing talent, to keep it up.

I can't fathom you Matt34. The way you come across, you have forgotten what PJ has done before the start of the season!!

The only positive is that we still have a viable football club in Birkenhead.

I can't fathom out which of you's on which side.

I haven't forgotten Ingleborough, but fans have been restless for some seasons now, because Johnson wouldn't sell and has made errors, like sack Ronnie for one and seemingly showing no interest in improving anything about the club that would be viable with little to no money.

Whatever he might have done initially years ago, I think many don't want him running the club now, because he is managing to stop the club ending up in a situation where it dissapears, but nothing more and has no creative ideas or fresh thinking, like the trust have got.

Peter Johnson did a lot years ago, but many are dissapointed that he let Ronnie go and allowed Les Parry too long in the job.

He saved the club once, but apart from doing enough to keep it alive, where is potential new investment or finance encouragement coming from and can the club continue to cope pottering along with existing finances, when if the trust or someone else took over, more investment or at least financial stimulation could come.

Johnson sold Park Foods, so why didn't he say he'd build a hotel complex, or any other money making schemes, considering he still makes some money for himself off the clubs back and love 2 shop.

The main reason could be age and wantign to cut his business responsibilities, but if so, he won't try to speculate to accumulate or spend money on new ways to make it and fans know to bolster the finances and progress up the system, new blood must be installed.
