Chesterfield (H) Live Updates and Match Discussion
By Deadly Submarine
December 1 2012
If you can't make Tranmere's game at home to Chesterfield in the second round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon, why not follow our live match updates right here and join in the banter right and with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend......
Following football even at League One level is pretty expensive these days and no matter how much you love the Rovers, it will sometimes be difficult to make the games in person whether it be the lengthy away trips, or for exiles living elsewhere in the UK or abroad, the home games too.
As a result, for those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, we at Total Tranmere will not only be providing this match discussion thread for you to discuss developments with the game, but in a brand new feature we will also be providing a live updates service from the game which will include team line-ups, score updates and also pictures and snippets live from the game.

Tranmere of course, host League Two side Chesterfield in the second round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on? You could use our live updates service to keep tabs on the action at the game whilst discussing all the talking points right here on our discussion thread. You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been to watch the game live.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use. To follow our live match updates, click on the link below and select the link for the Stevenage game from the list.

Lacking creativity still and Robbo's form a worry....
Good to see mcgurk get a goal thats 2 and an assist in the last few games....(to all those slagging him off name me another player scoring and assisting??)
Harrison still worries me and I wish we would have given vaulks a go instead of releasing him.
Power looked promising going forward and should start with palmer in wallace absence.
Ohalloran very quick, no convinced in his hold up play but could be useful!
Cole did well and typical goal for him!
Deserved the win but far from convincing.
not convinced any of our yellows were worthy of cards.

Can someone explain how there can be 7 fouls by Tranmere and 4 bookings?
All of the bookings were totally justified. How Boa Morte remained on the pitch is the only mystery.

To be fair to the ref, he did give him a final warning..... three times! Oh well, the games over now. No point getting bothered about it now. Boa Morte himself is the one that's got to home and live with the fact that he used to be good and now he's useless. And a nob.
Well done to the players. That was a good performance today, given the circumstances - only 5 first-choice players playing and loosing our best player to a (self inflicted) injury. I thought that Max did especially well, even though it took us about 20 minutes to adjust to the change (during which time they scored). Can't be easy for a young player in that central midfield role.
MOTM Stockton. A great finish for the goal, created several other chances for himself and forced their keeper into several full length stops. I can't think of any other Tranmere player that I've seen that's so good at forcing a shot when they have their back to goal.
Good performance from O'Halloran too. Looks like he can play the JLAA role effectively. If only we'd gone for him sooner instead of wasting a place in the XI on Jervis and Ecclestone.

You seriously reckon that we got a fairly comfortable win against committed opponents with seven poor performances? Only really bad performances for me were the ref and the SWA - it was like a morgue on three sides of the ground in the first half.
I think that everyone, including Cole, is aware that he needs to improve his movement off the ball. He's a young player. That's what happens with them. Why have a pop at a young player that is obviously improving the more he plays?

Sorry but I don't agree with you about the ref-all of the bookings were justified. The only thing he could be criticised about was allowing Boa Morte to stay on despite numerous last warnings. I would say our poorest performers were Robinson and Goodison.
Ohalloran has great pace but he does seem very light weight and doesn't protect/hold the ball very well at all.
A better performance in the 2nd half rather than first, ohalloran is certainly quick but really should have scored at least 1 goal.
Bad news with Wallace being out for a while now just hope for a decent draw
A lot of our problems were caused when Wallace came off and Max had to adjust to the game.
McGurk and Harrison creatively were very poor. Robbo had a bad day at the office. Until the second half Max struggled, then he began to show what his game is and started to win his battles and started to find passes. He had a hand in both goals.
Cole and O'Halleron did well with what the thin pickings they recieved.
The defence was a bit jittery and our full backs never got forward enough for me. Gibson was good and solid. Goodison needs games.
For Saturday, No Wallace should mean Max starts in front of Danny! It's a no brainer! but it won't happen Harrison will start. Unless we get yet another loan in!
Ref was poor, but not as bad as the one at the ressies tuesday!
SWA!
I also think that we'll see that ref in the Premier League before long-I don't agree he was poor at all.

I've been told that McGurk in the first half was getting non stop dreadful abuse from some in the JKS -doesn't exactly help you to play well.
Sadly it started before he even touched the ball. Soooo predictable. Your typical JKS moaner probably thinks that "that internet" is the work of the devil so no amount of posting on the forums is going to make it stop. It's up to everyone else to out-shout them.
Good job the decision didn't cost us!
