Swindon Town (H) Live Updates and Match Discussion
By Deadly Submarine February 18 2013
If you can't make Tranmere's game at home to Swindon Town in NPower League One on Tuesday evening, why not follow our live match updates right here and join in the banter right and with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend......
Following football even at League One level is pretty expensive these days and no matter how much you love the Rovers, it will sometimes be difficult to make the games in person whether it be the lengthy away trips, or for exiles living elsewhere in the UK or abroad, the home games too.
As a result, for those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, we at Total Tranmere will not only be providing this match discussion thread for you to discuss developments with the game, but in a brand new feature we will also be providing a live updates service from the game which will include team line-ups, score updates and also pictures and snippets live from the game.
Tranmere of course, host Swindon Town in NPower League One on Tuesday evening, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on? You could use our live updates service to keep tabs on the action at the game whilst discussing all the talking points right here on our discussion thread. You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been to watch the game live.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use. To follow our live match updates, click on the link below and select the link for the Swindon Town game from the list.
Could be very interesting.TRFC with a large part of squad missing against a team just lost high profile manager. Will depend on Swindle mental attitude.
Put me down for 2-0

Swindon are coming to us wounded, lots of confusion about club ownership, no chance of any loan players coming in, squad is looking thin but they will play with a passion that is the legacy of PDC. Might be worth looking in the stands to see which potential managers are watching.
Expect Swindon to play the game in our half, pressurise the back four, and rely on the offside's, team's they have lost to this season, and there are plenty, have tended to be long ball merchants, they seem to do well against decent footballing teams, MK Dons, B'mouth, us, Wigan, Ronnie may have to change the tactics tonight, soak up the pressure and hit them on the break, think Zooms runs might be crucial, hope Abs gets a game.
Lets hope for a clean sheet tonight and a set piece goal, going for a 1-0 win that would put us back on track and on top of the league, see the doubters are being quick to comment with their 'told you so' attitude, let's prove 'em wrong.
According to Merseyside we've got five players from Friday unavailable today, which would mean that incredibly we've got an extra two injuries (Holmes + Palmer + McGurk + ? + ?). Does anyone know who they are?
I just hope we can keep that clean sheet and pinch a goal, trouble being just who`s going to get that goal Robbo not at his best,Stockton not setting the world on fire and Amoo is Amoo just has not done it as for O`Hallon like a headless chicken a lot of effort runs a lot but only knows where the goal is if he ran into the goal post, just hope I am wrong and they all put a shift in and prove me wrong. But that lack of fire power does worry me glad when JLAA is back he just comes over as having that threat.

I would be happy with a point tonight but can not see were our next goal is going to come from! Both Stockton and O'Halloran in my opinion are not good enough at this level. A lot of huff and puff but no end result. I think our only hope may be from a set piece. However with the new lad in midfield and maybe Black, Kay and BB playing, a few new faces may work wonders. We need a captains performance from Robbo tonight and who knows a telling cross in the last few minutes may be nodded home from Goody who has come on as a sub. Happy days. Unsure what sort of Swindle side will turn up tonight but if we can grab a draw with AA and possible Gibson back ( not sure were this rumour started) on Saturday then all still to play for.

Thought I would get my post in before all the moaners get on here. What do the following players have in common?
Holmes
Gibson
Palmer
Wallace
McGurk
Jlaa
Cassidy
Answer: had they been available they would probably have started tonight. We simply can't be too hard on the lads with so many missing. We could match any team with our strongest 11 but we all know its the squad that isn't strong enough. It ain't over yet but we got to stick with them. To the "fans" in the mol who sarcastically chanted for goody when daniels made a mistake. You are complete morons.
I agree, cant fault the effort by the lads tonight. Not too sure why Stockton came off for Black though??. And to be fair Daniels was woeful tonight, but chanting for Goody was un called for. Swindon did look like Champions to me tonight.

Not moaning just shellshocked! Cant believe we've thrown away a SEVEN point lead at the top of Div 1!! Has any other side done that before? We may not even make the top SIX/ Unbelievable! Even without all those players mentioned above we really shouldnt have fallen away so badly! Self inflicted deafeats and THREE home defeats in a row! You simply couldn't make it up! We've grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory AGAIN!!! Typical Typical Tranmere!
Well said Millo, although based on that performance I'd have Kay in over Holmes now.
That was a decent effort considering that we only had four players from the first choice team available. But for a couple of inches it would have finished 2-2.
Lets just hope that we can carry the spirit shown at the end over to the next game.
The effort was there but the quality was lacking, we only really had a good go at them in the last 15 minutes or so. Kay had a decent game along with Taylor, Amoo Daniels Stockton were poor.
I cant see where the next win is coming from, we dont score enough gols and concede too many which is a bad combination.

Post Match Comment from the Manager - "The Decision Making Was Poor". Well you're right there Ronnie lad, leaving ABB on the bench for 75 minutes was a rank BAD decision.
He's spot on is Ronnie! Some of the decision making in the final third was woeful and not much better at the back either.
Stockton should have put us 1-0 up on the stroke of half-time but his header was appalling and there were other chances wasted by poor decision making.
Then there was THAT backpass. Cannot argue with Ronnie on that one!

I said a few weeks ago on another thread that I didn't think Stockton was ready to be starting games & I'm even more convinced now! Good prospect don't get me wrong but he's definitely more effective as sub. Why can't we get a striker in? JLAA has cost us big time with his sending off so let's hope he can get us a couple of goals on Sat. It aint over til it's over, we can come good again.

Very very disapointed at the moment. Not with the players, as we can only field what we have got even though the majority of them are not good enough at this level.Full of praise for Ronnie who has done a marvellous job on a meagre budget. My anger and frustration rests soley on the shoulders of PJ who does not want our club to improve itself with promotion. A small outlay on one or two players may have been enough to keep us up there, how many times have we heard" we are looking for the right kind of striker"? They are out there without having to break the bank but with no ambition I fear we may be waiting a long time. Others clubs with ambition are recruiting as Brentford showed yesterday. I have supported my team through thick and thin for the best part of 45 years, this season was a glorious opportunity but now I am starting to get disheartened. Why am I paying good money week in and week out to follow Rovers if I will never see them improve when they have the chance? It may be best just to accept mid table every season is a cracking result. Off to the docs now for my 6 month blood pressure check, I fear it may be high!!!
sparkypow Others clubs with ambition are recruiting as Brentford showed yesterday.
Two live cup matches and a money spinning FA Cup replay, probably worth up to £750,000, probably have something to do with that.
As frustrating as it is, Ronnie HAS been given wage money by Johnson to sign players, but people don't want to come. From what I've heard, we were prepared to pay £2,500 p/w for Chris O'Grady, that's more than any member of our current squad, but he chose Barnsley. We offered higher than that for Gary Madine, but he didn't want to leave Wednesday (don't believe the BS that Dave Jones has come out with, he's protecting his player).
Yes, some players have been out of our budget, but Ronnie has been given enough funds to bring in a player. They just don't want to come. Anything more from PJ would just be crass; we bemoan clubs like Swindon for living outside of their means. Is it not somewhat hypocritical to then expect our own chairman to pump money from outside the club in (and no doubt inflate the debt that we owe to him)?
With Madine, I was told he is on £4,500 per week and Johnson was prepared to pay 80% of that but as Matthew said, Madine didn't fancy it - no fault of Ronnie or PJ.

Can't blame Peter Johnson for what happens on the pitch.
He's selling the club, why would he pump lots of money into it if he has no intentions of keeping it?
There's a squad of players who have somewhat over achieved to get where they are, and because it's suddenly gone a tad wrong, the Johnson Out Campaign has suddenly started to rear it's ugly head!
We do need a few editions to our current crop of players, and from what I have read and heard, the club is trying to get some quality in. The dilemma is, if a player doesn't want to play for us, there's nothing we can do.
I am confident that once JLAA comes back, that will lift the team.
I was working last night,so I didn't go to the match, but I listened to the commentary on Radio Merseyside.
We sounded like we had them rattled in the second half and basically went for broke which allowed them the gift of a 70 yard goal.
At least on Saturday we have our first choice Striker back, and due to the nature of his recent absence, he owes Ronnie and the Fans something special!

Some good posts. May have to join you at doctors sparky! I agree that on one hand we don't want to be reckless with our spending but we are talking about one player , a striker, for 2 months. PJ may well be selling club but surely a bit of shrewd investment now could result in promotion and more liklihood of club being sold, better crowds, TV money etc? Even if we made play offs the extra 2 games at least would surely cover the players wages? Maybe we need a Ronnie-aid. Anyone got any spare cash?
Malek Sorry that you didn't get result yesterday
Anyone care to write a bit on how Corry did ?
First half played quite well was good on the ball and is a decent passer, faded a bit in the 2nd half but looks to have potential to be a usefull player
Apologies for the lack of promised Live updates in the last couple of games by the way. There have been technical issues with the software we use!
Also apologies for the lack of post match articles for last two games... I've been away at the weekend and didn't have time to do ones for the Swindon game either.
