Tranmere will once again face Altrincham FC as part of their pre-season campaign ahead of the 2013/14 season....
With the 2012/13 season barely at an end, the news of pre-season matches for the 2013/14 campaign are already beginning to filter through with a trip to Altrincham the first to be announced for Rovers.
Tranmere will travel to Moss Lane on Tuesday 16th July for a 7.30pm kick off against the Blue Square Bet North side for what has seemingly become a semi-regular pre-season game there in recent years.
The last time Rovers travelled to Altrincham in pre-season was on 23rd July 2011 as a testimonial match for Altrincham player Mark Maddox and on that occasion Rovers were defeated 2-0 by the home side in a game which features trialists including Mustafa Tiryaki who later signed for Rovers permanently.

Altrincham finished in fourth place in the Blue Square Bet North Division in 2012/13 with striker Damian Reeves the player to look out for if he plays having netted an impressive 36 goals in 43 games.
There are also reports that Rovers will face Welsh side Rhyl FC in a pre-season match on Friday 12th July but this is yet to be confirmed offically.
Total Tranmere will keep you up to date with all Rovers friendlies as they are announced so stay tuned for further news in the coming weeks...

I'd be a bit puzzled if given the hype surrounding him, Tranmere played them and nobody on Tranmere's staff saw anything that made them want to say, Peter get your cheque book out, there's an £80,000 superstar going begging.
Assuming he hasn't been snapped up by anyone else by then.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

I wonder if Damian Reeves will be playing for Tranmere against his old team, or playing for them so Tranmere can assess him with a view to signing him.

Think he was on trial at Doncaster pre season last year, thats probably why nothing was mentioned about him?
He's banged in another 40 odd this season, so he deffo knows where the net is.
Even if he halved his goal tally, he would still be one of the top scorers in our league.
I tweeted Reeves a few weeks back asking him to get his agent to ring Ronnie (tongue in cheek),in his reply, he stated he'd love to come and play for us. I reckon he'd come to Tranmere for a reasonable wage. He's currently working as a plasterer, so I reckon he'd be happy with about £700 - £1000 a week. Not bad if he bags 20 odd goals for us.
Definitely worth running the rule over him pre season imo.
There's lot's of good talent in the lower leagues, just need someone to give them a chance to show they can make the step up.
Do you think its a coincidence that hes never played league football or maybe hes not not upto the standard, hes not even play in the conference has he?
Apparently Gillingham messed him around with start dates and one or two other things.
He wanted to sign for a club, but one or two either messed him around, or didn't offer him the right circumstances.
He's league standard I think, but he's not going to give up a job and a bit of non-league cash, to be some teams 3rd choice or go to a club that makes him unhappy.

He might be not good enough for league football, but I just think he could be.

at 27 he wouldve been snapped up by now, he's not even played in the conference.
He was linked with Doncaster last Summer, but for some reason the move didn't come off.
He must have something, and I don't know how many goals he'd score in a season for us, I was merely saying that if he produced 50% of what he has in the last 2 seasons (allowing for the difference in standards), then he'd be a good addition to any team.
As long as he's fit and hitting the target, I'm sure he could be coached into becoming a decent striker at our level.
I certainly think he's worth a trial during the Summer.
If someone else snaps him up and he goes on to be a good player, how much would we be kicking ourselves?
The other player I'd be looking at is young Ross Allen, however, I think he'll have quite a few clubs looking at him and we will be priced out of the running.
The Reeves thing has been done to death elsewhere already!
