A Line-Up Fit For a King?

Supporters Trust to launch limited edition T-Shirt celebrating Johnny King's greatest players to help fund Statue campaign...........

The Tranmere Rovers Supporters Trust has announced that it is launching a limited edition t-shirt celebrating Johnny King's greatest players and supporters can have their say in who will make the starting XI in that time through an online voting campaign.  

The Trust will be producing an exclusive t-shirt featuring a Johnny King XI as part of their campaign to raise £50,000 to build a statue at Prenton Park celebrating Tranmere's greatest-ever manager.

The team will be created via a series of polls on the Trust's website, www.tranmereroverstrust.co.uk and all supporters can cast their vote to ensure their own hero makes the cut.

Speaking about the initiative yesterday, Trust Chairman Ben Harrison said....

"We're sure that all Tranmere supporters will have debated who would make the club's best XI at some stage, and this is their opportunity to have a say on creating a team made of Johnny King's best players.  So many of the club's legends played under the great man, from John Aldridge and Ian Muir to Ray Mathias and Ronnie Moore, so we're sure many of the places in the side will be hotly contested."

"As a Trust, we strongly believe that it is vital we recognise those who served the club and ensure they are not forgotten."

The polls will take place over the next three weeks with voting currently open for the goalkeeper and fullback positions, and polls for the centre of defence, midfield and forward positions will follow.

Once created, the team will feature on a limited edition t-shirt to be made as part of the Trust's campaign to erect a bronze statue of King at Prenton Park.  The campaign, launched at the end of last season, will feature several fund-raising initiatives to be announced shortly.  A miniature of the final statue, which will be crafted by renowned sculptor Tom Murphy, will be unveiled for viewing prior to an early season home game.
